Dr. Donna A. Payne
Class of 1971
Dr. Donna Payne has been a professional educator for more than forty years, including twenty-five years' experience in higher education. Her professional experiences include establishing, administering and growing six online colleges, administering departmental, university-wide and multi-campus university and college programs, evaluating faculty, providing academic leadership, obtaining outside funding, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, advising students, designing and administering programs for national, local and state education agencies. Dr. Payne has been a significant contributor to national initiatives for teacher education and teacher certification reform.
Dr. Payne was the Outstanding Career and Technical Educator for a seven-state region and named to the Outstanding Young Women of America. She has received Outstanding Service Awards for the Colorado Vocational Association and the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation and was a finalist for the Oklahoma Woman of the Year.
She is a volunteer at St. Catherine Laboure Catcholic Church, St. Anthony's Hospital, KTK Productions (a community theater group), St. Vincent DePaul Parish Meals Program and a Board Member for Restaurants on Mission Public Charity and Foundation. Dr. Payne has served as a volunteer for the Oklahoma & Tulsa March of Dimes, Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary and served two terms as President of the Crescent Alumni Association.
She holds a Bachelor or Science in Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Masters of Education Degree in Guidance Counseling from Northeastern Oklahoma State University and Doctorate of Philosophy in Vocational Education from Colorado State University. Dr. Payne is a certified Superintendent, Secondary Principal, Vocational Administrator, Guidance Counselor and has teaching certificates in Vocational Home Economics, Government, Early Childhood Education and Special Needs.
