The first post office in Abu Dhabi was opened in March 30th, 1963 during the British postal administration in the mud building which had been the premises of the British Bank of the Middle East. At the same date, another post office was opened for Das Island in the Postal Superintendent's Office in Bahrain.
On January 6th, 1966 the Das Island post office was transferred from Bahrain"The Postal Superintendent Office" to the Island and it was initially operated by Abu Dhabi Marine Areas (ADMA) on behalf of the British Postal Agencies.
