St. Benedict Apologetics

What is "Apologetics"?

The Catholic Encyclopedia defines it as "the comprehensive, scientific vindication of the grounds of Christian, Catholic belief, in which the calm, impersonal presentation of underlying principles is of paramount importance, the refutation of objections being added by way of corollary. It addresses itself not to the hostile opponent for the purpose of refutation, but rather to the inquiring mind by way of information."

This information is meant to be presented to help both non-Catholics and Catholics learn more about our faith, as we take seriously St. Peter's reminder of our duty for "being ready always to satisfy every one that asketh you a reason of that hope which is in you" (1 Peter 3:15). To the best of our knowledge, the material available here is 100% faithful to the official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

NEW AT ST. BENEDICT APOLOGETICS
After some time off, the club is up and running again. We will begin holding informal sessions between masses on Sunday; there will be discussions on various topics related to our Catholic faith. Starting on June 6, please come to the St. Scholastica building after 9:00 mass to learn how to answer the question "Are you saved?". A schedule of topics will be posted later.

We hope to see you there!
