A Prayer by St. Thomas Aquinas

I entreat you, God of consolation, you who see nothing in us but what is of your own giving, that at the end of my life you will grant me knowledge of primal truth, enjoyment of the highest good. To my body also, most generous benefactor, be pleased to give a radiant beauty, agility, subtlety and impassibility. Add to these abundant riches an influx of delight, a convergence of every good so that I may delight above all in your consolation - below me through the pleasantness of the place, within me through the glorification of body and soul, and around me through the close community of angels and men.

Near you, most merciful Father, may I praise the power of reason, the light of wisdom, the satisfaction of all desire, with lower emotions pacified. For in your presence there is no fear of danger, but only blessed security, harmony of wills, the loveliness of spring, the brightness of summer, the abundance of autumn, and the repose of winter.

Grant, O Lord God, life without death, joy without sorrow, for with you there is the greatest freedom, free security, secure peace, joyful happiness, happy security, eternal happiness, a vision of truth, and praise. Amen.
