Broom
Also called a besom
Contrary to popular belief Witches do not use brooms to fly. In the Craft a broom is used to literally sweep away negativity and purify space. You can make your own broom with an ash staff, birch twigs, and willow to bind it. During handfastings, couples jump over a broom to solemnize their union. It is considered unlucky to move from one residence to another with the same broom.
Since it is a purifier, the broom is linked to the element of Water. Thus it is also used in all types of water spells including those of love and physic workings.
The broom used for magic, should be just for that and nothing more. If you decide to buy a broom, try to find a round one; the flat Shaker-type brooms just don't seem to have the same effect.
