Our relationship with God is fundamental,
to our well being, happiness and future. Jesus
recognised Gods sovereignty as is clearly shown in the bible. Please note that the scriptures quoted here are from
the King James Bible
N.B. Some translations prefer to use Yahweh (King James Bible "Jehovah") as God's name, and Yah (King James
Bible "Jah") as the shortened form.
John - 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the
truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John - 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known
my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
John - 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the
Father, and it sufficeth us.
John - 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long
time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest
thou [then], Show us the Father?
John - 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me,
he doeth the works.
John - 14:11 Believe me that I [am] in the Father,
and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
John - 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that
believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go
unto my Father.
John - 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name,
that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
John - 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go
away, and come [again] unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my
Father is greater than I.
John - 14:29 And now I have told you before it come
to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
John - 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you:
for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
John - 14:31 But that the world may know that I love
the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
John - 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh,
that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
John - 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might
know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
John - 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have
finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
John - 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with
thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
John - 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the
world: thine they were, and thou gavest
them me; and they have kept thy word.
John - 17:7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever
thou hast given me are of thee.
John - 17:8 For I have given unto them the words which
thou gavest me; and they have received [them], and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed
that thou didst send me.
John - 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world,
but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
John - 17:10 And all mine are thine, and thine are
mine; and I am glorified in them.
John - 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but
these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given
me, that they may be one, as we [are].
Here we can see clearly the relationship,
and respect that Jesus had for his Father, the words he spoke were words given to him by God, he carried out the
work of God.
John Chapter 17 vs. 11 refers to the fact that we may also be one as they are one.
How can that be ?
John - 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even
so have I also sent them into the world.
John - 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself,
that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
John - 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for
them also which shall believe on me through their word;
John - 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father,
[art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
John - 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have
given them; that they may be one, even as we are one
Through the truth imparted by Jesus
to us (Ephesians Chapter
3 vs.17) for the glory of
the God that sent him forth.
(Romans Chapter 8 vs. 4 -15 - Luke Chapter 12 vs. 8-10 ). Clearly
then recognition of Gods sovereignty is fundamental to a good relationship with God.
Who is this God that has such a devoted
servant as Jesus Christ ?
John - 10:22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the
dedication, and it was winter.
John - 10:23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's
porch.
John - 10:24 Then came the Jews round about him, and
said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
John - 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works
that I do in my Father's
name, they bear witness
of me.
John - 10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not
of my sheep, as I said unto you.
John - 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them,
and they follow me:
John - 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and
they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.
John - 10:29 My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater
than all; and no [man] is able to pluck [them] out of my Father's hand.
John - 10:30 I and [my] Father are one.
John - 10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to
stone him.
John - 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have
I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
John - 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good
work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
John - 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written
in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
John - 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the
word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
John - 10:36 Say ye of him,
whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
John - 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe
me not.
John - 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me,
believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father [is] in me, and I in him.
John - 17:25 O righteous Father, the world hath not
known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
John - 17:26 And I have declared unto them thy name,
and will declare [it]: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
Mark - 10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way,
there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal
life?
Mark - 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good
but one, [ that is
], God.
Mark - 10:19 Thou knowest the commandments,
Do not commit adultery,
Do not kill,
Do not steal,
Do not bear false witness,
Defraud not,
Honour thy father and mother.
Jesus knows God as his righteous Father
from the very beginning he was the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature, for it pleased
the Father that in him should all fullness dwell (Colossians Chapter 1 vs. 15 - 19)
Jesus is prepared to share Gods love,
with us, for that reason he declared Gods name.
Jesus knows the true identity of God,
are there any other witnesses to Gods name ?
James - 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is
dead, being alone.
James - 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have
works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee
my faith by my works.
James - 2:19 Thou believest
that there is one God; thou doest
well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
James - 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
James - 2:21 Was not Abraham our
father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
James - 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his
works, and by works was faith made perfect?
James - 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which
saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
James - 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is
justified, and not by faith only.
1 Corinthians - 8:6 But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are]
all things, and we by him.
Exodus - 3:15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath
sent me unto you: this [is] my name for ever, and this [is] my memorial unto all generations.
Psalms - 68:4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name:
extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice
before him.
Psalm - |83:18 That [men] may know that thou, whose
name alone
[is] JEHOVAH , [art] the most high over all the earth.
Isaiah - 12:2 Behold, God [is] my salvation; I will
trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH [is] my strength and [my] song; he also is become my salvation.
Isaiah - |26:4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in
the LORD JEHOVAH [is] everlasting strength:
So we can identify gods name from the
King James bible it is Jehovah God, he alone, is everlasting strength, the most high over the earth, his name will
stand for ever.
Jesus in John
Chapter 17 vs. 3 - 8 laid a responsibility on all who wish to
follow him
Matthew - 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed
be thy name.
Matthew - 6:10 Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.
Matthew - 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Matthew - 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive
our debtors.
Matthew - 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
The Lord's Prayer Matthew
Chapter 6 vs. 9 emphasises that Jehovah's kingdom will come
that his will, will be done on earth.
We can therefore identify gods people
those truly wishing to be in union with God, seeking to glorify his name and kingdom.
What is our position in Gods theocratic
arrangement ?
1 Corinthians - 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or
drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians - 10:32 Give none offence, neither to
the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
1 Corinthians - 10:33 Even as I please all [men] in
all [things], not seeking mine own profit, but the [profit] of many, that they may be saved.
1 Corinthians - 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as
I also [am] of Christ.
1 Corinthians - 11:2 Now I praise you, brethren, that
ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered [them] to you.
1 Corinthians - 11:3 But I would have you know, that
the head of every man is Christ;
and the head of the woman [is] the man;
and the head of Christ [is] God.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Matthew - 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord,
Lord, shall enter into the kingdom
of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew - 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord,
Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful
works?
Matthew - 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I
never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
We like Jesus need to recognise the
Almighty God's, (Jehovah's) sovereignty, seek to to do his will, and acknowledge Jesus Christ as head of the Christian
Church (Ephesians Chapter 5: vs. 1-33)
(see the illustration of the sower
and the seed given by Jesus Matthew
Chapter 13 ) .
