The Royal Theatre was built on City Road in 1882 on the site of a wooden stucture used for circuses etc. many of the famous old music hall stars performed there , the above poster announced a fortcoming play , a farce starring Fred Edwards and Iris Villiers . the theatre closed down in 1966
