Helen L.Vannostran Chitwood
84, of Perry, Oklahoma born March 17, 1921 to Basil and Delpha (Whitt) Vannostran
at Cushing, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at her home following a brief illness.
Helen graduated from Cushing High Schooland married George Chitwood August 14, 1937 in Chandler, Oklahoma.
The couple moved to Perry from Sallisaw, Oklahoma in 1958 when they purchased Perry Printing & Office Supply. They operated the business from 1958 until they retired in 1981.
A member of the First United Methodist Church and Perry Golf and Country Club Helen was a volunteer at Operation Blessing for several years.
She loved the game of golf and after she felt she was physically unable to play any longer, she stayed close to the game and its players by helping out in the pro shop on special occasions.
Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2005 in the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel in Perry, Oklahoma. Rev. Ed Cook officiated. She is buried at Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry. Services were under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry.

Survivors are two daughters, Judie Chitwood, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Corky Mayes and her husband, Byron, of Edmond, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Pamela Zumwalt, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Dina Anderson and her husband, Scott, of Owasso, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Zumwalt, and his wife, Brittany, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Kaylen Anderson and Kristen Anderson, both of Owasso, Oklahoma; and special friends of the family, Julie Duff and Mike Hagerty.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1995; her parents, sisters Jo Ann Sheridan, Thelma Vannostran Geen and brother Robert (Bob) Dow Vannostran.
