Robert Daugherty, a native of Cushing, now
of Gaston, Oregon died Thursday
December 6th, 2001 in the Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro,
Oregon, at the age of 67.
The son of the late Claude Daugherty and
Anita R. (O'Bryan) Daugherty,
Robert was born July 5, 1934 in Cushing, Oklahoma. He was reared
and educated in the Cushing area; graduating from Cushing High School
with the class of 1952.
Robert had been stationed in Germany,
after being drafted into the United
States Army.
Robert married Helen Grotheer Smith on May
5, 1965 in Springdale, Arkansas.
The Daugherty's made their home in the Avery and Cushing areas,
before moving to Gaston, Oregon in 1969.
Robert has worked as a carpenter for over
42 years. While he was still living
in Cushing he had worked for Jim Roe Carpentry. He was dedicated
to his work, but he also loved to play golf, play the guitar and
taking care of his many pets.
Robert is survived by his wife, Helen, of
the home; three stepsons, Gene Smith
of Lubbock, Texas, Gary Smith and his wife Sara of Oklahoma City,
and Dale Smith and his wife Jeannine of
Forest Grove, Oregon; two brothers, Jack
Daugherty and his wife Mary of Cushing, and Kenneth Daugherty and
his wife Betty of Broken Arrow; two sisters, Judy Anderson and her
husband Ronnie of Cushing and
Yovenne Kinder and her husband Tom of West Virginia; five grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other
relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held at 2
p.m. Tuesday December 11, 2001, in the Fairlawn
Cemetery of Cushing, with Pastor Bill Allton, Jr. officiating.
Services were under the direction of
the Davis Funeral Home of Cushing,

be made to the Salvation Army.
