With this report, feel free to share any or all of it. I am leaving
it to your judgment, especially to former students.
Dora almost didn't let me get into the room before she was asking "Who is this ?" She is the regal deluxe super Lady.."May I have a wet Turkish towel"?, she asks So I knew she thought she was on another trip. All the x-ray were clear..even after her climbing spree. Over the end of the bed to go "tee-tee". She had removed her IV. and catheter, early in the morning. she has had a urinary tract infection. Knock, Knock, on the door, while she was still on the floor..Her Doctor had dropped by for a visit. Margaret was telling me all of this while Dora was fastly asking questions..."Where did I meet you? How did we come to know one another?"
She wanted to know what I was doing now? I explained I was taking care
of a Gentleman 75..Her eyes lit up and you could tell what she was
thinking..She will never let go of living until she draws her last
breath..and loves to know about your personal affairs..the more exciting
you make it the more she listens...and this kind of things stays in her
memory longer...fantacies are her favorite...I had to assure her he was
married..she was already looking for me a husband..LOL
They brought her dinner while I was there and I fed her against
Margaret's wishes...(but I knew that was ok). With the IV in her
right arm I felt I was protecting that..
Dora kept asking if she could go home with us..She does not remember one
minute to the next but she still asks the questions..She still feels she
has to have control...She looked at her 8 yr. old Grandson,
Ryan..and ask how college was going..was he in a dorm close to her? That
is when I figured out she thought she was in a Dorm not the hospital..So
when she gets back to the Nursing Facility..Winchester Lodge...she will
be back in her old dorm room...
I hope this makes sense Pat...Sorry I was so long in getting it to
you...My Best....Ruby
March, 2002 Hello to Everyone...I am writing this as a cover page
for my self to let you know why I have slowed down on the computer for a time..I am fine but just cannot find
enough time in the day to sleep and play too...
My former patient Dora, who is 95 is in the hospital
and my Friend Martha and I are trying to cover for the
family 24 hrs. a day.
Margaret her only daughter is not feeling well either..Burney is able to go and that is what he does best..LOL..He does see we have everything we need..LOL and checks on us..They are a wonderful family and I would do anything for them..I kept Dora at their home for over a year..Stayed night and day...Like moving in...until she went into a Nursing Facility.. Dora had pneumonia and a urinary track infection and
has been quite ill.. Since restraining patients has been made
a no-no..someone has to watch her constantly.... She is
herself in that she does not know what she can do? until she does
it and falls or tries and fails...That is my Dora..
I will write a note from time to time as I have the
time..Hopefully Margaret will be feeling better soon and be back to help
some..
I remain..Ruby Obituary
