CUSHING, OKLAHOMA
HARMONY GRADE SCHOOLS

The two-roomed house which Elliot Morgan built on his homestead (in the southeast quarter of Section 11, Township 17, North, Range 5 East) became the first Harmony School. When Mr. Morgan returned with his wife from Kansas in 1894, the school was moved to what is presently known as the Elmer Naumann farm. The school was later moved to its present site to accommodate students living further south, as there was no school yet at Happy Valley. Six families came to Harmony School. The first teacher at Harmony was Erma Fox; other were Miss Elsie Fry and Miss Hattie McLaury.

Families in the area included the Brennen's, the Morgan's, the Griffeth's, Dooley's, Blair's, Luke's, Hermonstorfer, Cross and others.
