Road Trip. Talked about months in
Advance...finaly organised the day we left.

First of all it was a question of how could
we fit everyone in? Minibus? Several
cars? hired cars? As the wusses
steadily dropped out we thought more
like hire 2 cars, or hire one and take one
of our own. in the end, the night before we
weren’t even sure if we’d fill one car...

Strange one that. After all, the 2 previous
trips had gone without a hitch. Maybe that
would explain all the hitches that were to
try to ruin this one...

After finally deciding to take Gordon’s car,
after discovering his...’incedents’ relating to driving we were less than confident in travelling with him at the wheel, especially, with God’s own chauffeur also available to drive in his mighty Hyundai...

Nevertheless, we set off only 3 hours late due to

1 Gordon’s driving rather than David’s.

2 Rory’s inability to read maps

3 Rory’s inabilty to follow directions

4 Fergie’s inability to tell the time

Mission England began then in Motherwell with Gordon McAskill at the wheel, David Bolton, Rory McQueeny and David Ferguson as passengers holding on for their lives...

So at 3pm (no not 3am Ferguson) we left for Leeds,

An impressive start from Gordon saw us reach carlisle in just over an hour. This was without a doubt aided by the abject quality of Bolton’s drive-o-tape. Stopping for a well earned and very small and expensive burger king, Fergie (being the daytime tv watcher he is) spotted some bloke from Hear Say. Exciting.

Anyway we headed off after buying supplies and stuff, and with Rory not reading the maps - we didn’t get lost
