Rory trying to look cool....Bolton just trying to stand up

With a View to our Deaths, Bolts, being the charismatic leadership type, decided that we would Die Another Day and we turned back, no more than 50 foot from the top. It was the right decision, and even though the camera footage shows blue skies and ice, the weather was so bad at times with winds of 100mph, and view distance of about 5 feet. At times like this, we were just trying to stay alive, not take photos!

Going down was another challenge, no crampons, no ice axe, no foot...pole things. Fergie decided to use a survival bag as a sledge, and on the solid spiky ice, he didn’t go very far. Rory decided to fall a lot, using his soaking jeans as a sled.

Bolton, using his greased mongoose style reflexes, strolled down without as much as a stumble, whistling merilly on his way.

As the ice turned to rock (magically) we strolled on, picking
up the ocasional mcQueeney, happy in the knowledge that
we gave it our best shot, and without equipment, we came
back in one piece.
