My how time flies when you're having fun
But my how it goes so slowly when you're old.
I used to watch my kids play in the yard
Now I see my grandchildren at their graduation.
So long ago my sister taught me how to read
And now mydaughter teaches me how to care for myself.
When I used to dream of all the things I wanted to do
Where has all that time passed?
The tree in the front yard my daddy planted on Arbor Day
Has now given half the yard a blanket of shade.
Running on the track team was my favorite sport
I can hardly get to the front door in the morning.
But I guess being young and innocent cannot compare
To the joys of being old and wise.
My how time flies when you're having fun
But my how it goes so slowly when you're old.
