A Baby's Love
In the midst of life’s confusions
Growing stronger every day,
The devilish intrusions
Never seem to go away.
Then the Lord sends down a precious gift
To blossom before our eyes
And give our hearts a love-filled lift
When we hear those first little cries.
“Mommy, hold me in your arms
Snug against your chest.
Keep me from the worldly harms
So that I may rest.
I’m just a tiny baby still,
A gift from God above.
I’ll cling to you – oh yes I will –
And give a baby’s love.”
“Daddy, standing full of pride
And smile upon your face,
Your joy I feel. It’s hard to hide
Because it spreads from place to place.
I’m glad to be your little boy,
Pure as a snow-white dove.
I will return your gift of joy
In the form of a baby’s love.”
“I’m God’s little pilgrim
In wild and wicked lands,
But as I learn to follow Him,
My life is in your hands.
I don’t have much to offer you.
Greater help may be thought of.
But you will know before I’m through
The warmth of a baby’s love.”
