Lafitte Pincay

Pincay, Laffit Alejandro, Jr., Panamanian jockey was born on 1946– in Panama City, Republic of Panama. He began racing in Panama and then came to the United States in 1965. Throughout his career he was known as a strong finisher, Pincay was one of the top all-time money-winning jockeys and was inducted into racing's hall of fame at the age of 28, becoming the youngest rider to be so honored. In 1999 he surpass Billy Shoemaker as the world's winningest jockey when he broke Bill Shoemaker's record career wins of 8,834 wins on Irish Nip. Pincay won the Kentucky Derby once and the Belmont Stakes three times. He retired in 2003 at the young age of 56 after a devastating neck injury. He is the number one winning jockey in horseracing. Panamanian jockey Laffit Pincay Jr., rode a record 9,530 victories in his 39-year career of horse racing.
