Chapter 16- Blow Out the Candles, Make A Wish...You Just Might Get It

The Hanson family had just flown back home to Tulsa for Kat’s birthday. They had been in Tulsa for two days and no one knew about it, not even Kat, Victoria, Hallie, or Chrissy. Today was Kat’s birthday, and it was special. Ike was going to surprise Kat for her 18th birthday at her house. Ike had gotten her a special necklace for her birthday. It was a locket and on the back was engraved, “Clarke Isaac and Kathleen Elizabeth forever.” He knew she’d like it. While they were home, Zac had made a mental note to surprise Chrissy. He saw she wasn’t her usual hyper self, and he had a determination like no other to cheer her up. But, would things be the same when he returned? Zac could only help but wonder if there was something that Chrissy was hiding from him; something she didn’t want him to know, but maybe it was just all in his head. Little Zachary would just have to find out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ike was walking to Kat’s house, with his gift for her at hand. This was sure going to be a surprise for her. Isaac called earlier, and told her that he was coming, and to keep Kat home until he arrived. Kat’s mom was overjoyed, and told Isaac that she knew Kat would be ecstatic when she saw him.

Ike came to her front steps, and cautiously rang her doorbell. Hiding her present behind his back, he waited patiently for someone to open the door.

Slowly, the door creaked open with Kat standing there, in shock, she screamed, “Ike!”

“Someone called for a visit,” Isaac smiled, “to the birthday girl!”

Excitedly, she threw her arms around him, hugging him tight. Her ponytail swished with her sudden moments. Kat was wearing a gray tee shirt, and work out shorts. He face was also slightly flushed, and she seemed heated.

“Sorry, I was working out,” she seemed embarrassed by her appearance. “I had no idea that you were coming.”

“Neither did the rest of the world. We didn’t tell anyone we were coming back to Tulsa.”

“Oh, wow! Well, come in,” opening the door wider, Kat invited Isaac inside.

The happy couple began walking towards the family room to talk. It seemed like it had been ions since the two last saw each other. Thankfully, Isaac would hopefully be done recording in four months, and then, he could come home for awhile until he had to go on tour. And that wouldn’t be for awhile.

As they sat down, Ike said, proudly, “I have a gift for you. I saw it in Los Angeles, and I just had to get it for you!”

“What is it? What is it?!” Kat asked, eagerly.

Isaac laughed, “I can’t tell you, silly. You have to open it!

From behind his back, Isaac revealed a perfectly wrapped small box. It was covered in a beautiful metallic gold wrapping paper. He would never admit it to Kat, but his mom packaged it for him because he wasn’t exactly sure how to himself. Ike felt stupid not being able to wrap a simple gift, but that would be his little secret, now wouldn’t it?

Ike told Kat, “I hope you like it.”

“I’m sure I’ll love it,” she promised, as she unwrapped the paper, carefully, “as long as it’s from you.”

As she tore away the wrapping paper, and began to open the box, Ike became tense. What if she didn’t like it? What if she threw it back in his face? What if…What if?

“Oh, Ike!” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Zac was over at Chrissy’s house. He had surprised her by waiting for her in her room while she was in the shower. Hallie had let him inside. Zac and Chrissy were sitting in her room, watching TV.

Chrissy laughed, “Oh my gosh, Zac! That guy is such a dork!”

Zac was nearly on the floor, laughing in hysterics. He couldn’t help it. They were watching “America’s Stupidest Criminals.” An unidentified criminal had stolen a car, and when the cops cornered him, he ran out of the car and somehow, his pants fell to his ankles! He was stumbling down a hill. It was hysterical!

“I know!” Zac laughed, snorting. “If Tay was running from the law, something like that would happen to him.”

Chrissy gave Zac a tap on the shoulder, “Oh, Zac! Be nice!”

“I am! It’s true!”

“Whatever…dork,” commented Chrissy, who was giggling, furiously.

“Hey!” Zac seemed hurt by Chrissy’s sarcastic comment.

“Sorry, sorry,” she apologized, “it was just too perfect. I couldn’t pass the moment up.

“I understand,” suddenly Zac looked lovingly into his girlfriend’s eyes, “have I told you today how much I love you?”

Chrissy smiled, slowly, “Repetitively, babe. You’ve told me like, a bazillion times!”

“Well,” he explained, “I just love saying it to you.”

“I love you, too, Zac,” she whispered before softly pressing her lips against his own.

The chime of a doorbell shattered the romantic moment. Zac was crushed to hear it ring. Now that he was home, he wanted to spend every waking moment by her side.

Chrissy stood, “I’ll be right back, k? I gotta get that.”

“I’ll come with you,” offered Zac, beginning to rise.

Chrissy was quick to reject his offer, replying without hesitation, “No, I’ll only be a minute! Promise! I’ll be right back!”

After Chrissy left the room, all Zac could think about was how long it would be until she returned. Zac was finally home, how could he bear to be away from Chrissy, when he was so close?

Quietly, Zac made his way over to the balcony to see who Chrissy was talking to at the door. To his surprise when he got to the balcony, Chrissy wasn’t there, and they door was closed tightly. Then, Zac noticed the house was deafeningly quiet. He decided to take a peak downstairs, even though it wasn’t any of his business.

Zac secretly peered around the side of the hallway. What her saw next, put him into a severe state of shock. Chrissy was kissing another guy! Zac wasn’t sure who he was, but he would make sure he’d find out.

Oh my Gosh!” Zac thought. “Chrissy…me…is it…over?

The almost fourteen-year-old Hanson brother sneaked over to the bottom of Chrissy’s stairway. Zac decided he’d wait for them there.

Zac heard a slight laughter come form the living room. By the second, the flirtatious laughter grew closer and closer with his hearing. Chrissy and whomever the boy was she was with, were heading toward the hallway.

As Chrissy turned the corner into the entrance of the house, Zac spoke, firmly, “Chirssy.”

Frightened, she shrieked, “Zac!” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Back at Kat’s house, Kat was still raving about the locket necklace that isaac had given to her. She couldn’t believe that Ike had given her such an awesome gift.

“This is so special to me, Ike,” she exhaled. “How did you know I wanted a locket for my birthday?”

Ike smirked at his dumb luck, “It was intuition.”

“You are so fantastic,” Kat complimented him. “Can you help me get this on?”

“Sure.”

As Kat handed Isaac the locket, the gold sparkled in the light. It truly was a beautiful necklace. Careful not to pull her hair, Ike brushed Kat’s hair out of the way, and connected the two clasps behind her neck.

“How does it look?!” she exclaimed.

“See for yourself, sweetie,” Isaac was smiling, widely. A beautiful locket for a beautiful person. It looked great on her. “What do you think?”

Kat wasted no time throwing her around Isaac in gratitude, “Oh, thank you so much, Ike! It looks magnificent!”

“I’m glad you like it,” he planted a kiss on her forehead.

“This is the greatest birthday I’ve ever had!” Kat assured him.

“I’m at your service,” he winked.

The surprised look on Kat’s face made spending all that money on her locket worth it. It was an expression he’d remember for the rest of his life. He’d never seen her look so happy before. To have her happy, made Ike feel so important to her. Something he did made her smile. He made her smile. That’s all he wanted in life, and with knowing she was, he could die a happy man. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Who are you?” questioned Zac, firmly, and glaring into the boy’s eyes.

The boy was stunned and could say nothing. He just stood there, looking back at Zac, and wasn’t quite sure what to say to him.

“Well, who are you?” asked Zac, monotonously.

The boy nervously brushed back his hair with his fingers, and stuttered, “M-my name’s, Eric.”

Panicked, Chrissy tried to explain, “Zac, I can explain! Really! There’s an explanation for all of this!”

“Chrissy, you’re not in this, right now!” snapped the young Hanson brother.

Chrissy was shocked, but understood when Zachary meant business. He was serious about this, and wanted to get to the bottom of it.

Zac’s face was stone, and he still hadn’t broken his stare, “I saw you kissing my girlfriend!”

Cautiously, Eric backed away, “I-I didn’t know she was your girlfriend! I didn’t even know you were here!

“I don’t believe you!” Zac angrily stood up, and shoved Eric into the doorway entrance.

“Zac! Zac! He’s telling the truth!” Chrissy cried, with tears streaming down her cheeks. “I came onto him!”

Suddenly, Zac let Eric go, and faced Chrissy, “You what?!”

“I-I came onto him,” she repeated. “It was me.”

“But, why?

“Can we talk about this later, please?” begged Chrissy. “Y’know…when company’s not here?”

Zac turned towards Eric, and said nothing but, “Eric, get out.”

“Huh?” that caught poor Eric off guard.

“You heard me,” Zac pursued. “Get out.”

“Alright,” Eric began heading toward the door, then he turned, and bravely added, “I’ll call you tomorrow, k, Chrissy?”

“No, you won’t,” Zac quickly stated before Chrissy even had a chance to respond to Eric.

“Okay, okay…I’m outta here,” Eric announced, as he began to shut the door as he exited.

“Hold the door,” Zac grabbed the edge of the door. “I’m leaving, too.”

“Zac…,” Chrissy started to say.

She was interrupted by Zac, “No, Chrissy, I’m going. I’ll see you later.”

As the door slammed shut, Chrissy couldn’t help but to kick herself. She was ruiing…if it wasn’t already ruined, her relationship with Zac. How could she be so stupid? It was a complete mystery to her. But, what about Zac? He had literally caught her red handed with another guy! How painful is that? Chrissy and Zac’s perfect relationship was now in shambles. Could they survive? Could the pieces be put back together?
