Taylor had forgotten about trying to get back together with Hallie. It just was not meant to be, and he knew it. She was constantly calling him, checking up on the situation. She was hoping he had given it some thought, to her disappointment, though, it had not even crossed his mind. Taylor still loved her, but reminded himself that he did not want to experience that sort of pain again. If she had only been honest with him... Kat, though, was not the only one being dishonest with a Hanson brother. There would be a shock to the Hanson family with of their closest friends. Someone that they would never expect it from. What would their reaction be? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Taylor slammed the car door behind him, as he made his way towards the Sam Goody’s. He had come to Goody’s with a certain CD in mind. He wanted the only Hole CD, “Celebrity Skin”. The CD was almost a year and a half old, but with his schedule just as busy as theirs, if not busier, he hadn’t had time to buy it.
Twirling his keys as he walked, he thought, “It’s a beautiful day out today.”
The sun shone brightly down on his sun highlighted hair, and warmed his skin. The sky was crystal blue, and there was not a cloud hanging in the sky...anywhere. Today was a perfect day to get out.
A girl in front of Tay held the door open for him, and he managed, “Thanks.”
“No problem,” she assured him.
After entering Sam Goody, Tay dashed up the stairs to the upper level to the Cds. Then, found his way over to the section of CDs located under the H’s.
Taylor scanned his eyes across the wall of Cds, and then, a CD caught his attention.
It was it his own. Tay picked up the CD and examined it carefully. So many memories had ben put into that CD. Now, Taylor and his brothers were about to start another journey to L.A. and to create another whole set of memories for their fans to indulge themselves into.
“We’re actually going back,” he thought.
It was amazing beyond conprehension that they were actually going back to L.A. They had just gotten home, and now they were going back to work.
Tay put the CD back and began looking again for the CD he had orignally come for. Soon, the words “Celebrity Skin” caught his eye.
He picked up the CD and started back down stairs to check out. But, while making his emergency run downstairs, like there was a crowd to beat to the check out line. Taylor was stopped abruptly by the same girl, who had held the door open for him.
“Hi,” she said sheepishly.
“Hi,” Tay said back, just as quietly.
“That’s an awesome CD,” the girl whispered, pointing to the CD that Taylor had enclosed in his hand.
Tay smiled, “Yeah.” Taylor tucked the CD under his arm, extending out his hand to her, “Oh! By the way, I’m Taylor.”
“I’m Victoria,” she told him, as she took his hand.
“That’s a pretty name,” Taylor complimented her. He had that same great feeling about Victoria that he used get with Hallie, only this was stronger. There was something about Victoria that gave Taylor this uncontrollable feeling.
Victoria blushed, “Thanks.”
“No problem,” Tay flashed her another one of his perfectionist smiles. “What CD did you buy?” He noted the WHEREhouse CD bag in her hands.
“Um...I...” she seemed hesitant to him. “Nothing you’d like probably.” Victoria just laughed it off.
“Oh, c’mon!” he persisted. “You could’ve bought Mickey’s Christmas CD and wouldn’t make fun of you or anything. I’m not like that, girl.”
Victoria reconsidered, “Well, I bought two CDs, really.” She dug into her WHEREhouse bag.
One of the Cds that she took out of her bag, nearly knocked Taylor over by surprise. She had bought “Live From Albertane” and N Sync’s old self-titled CD.
“So, that CD actually does sell,” Taylor kept to himself.
“What can I say?” she laughed. “I’m a teeny-bopper.”
“One of the smarter ones,” Tay told her, snickering. “Well, I gotta go check out, wanna walk with me?”
“Sure.”
They both were rushing down the stairs, when Taylor’s cell phone rang.
“RING!!!!!!”
“Oh, man!” Taylor stopped at the end of the stairs. “Can you hold on a sec?”
Victoria nodded.
Taylor clicked on the Nokia celler phone that he had, “Hello?”
It was Mrs. Hanson, “Tay? You have to go to the police station.”
“Huh?” This puzzled Tay. “What happened, Mom? Is everyone alright?”
“Yeah,” she sighed. “Everyone’s fine. Just please go to the police station as soon as possible.”
Taylor assured her, “I wil, Mom. I promise. Bye.”
He hung up the celler phone, still confused. Tay did not understand what was going on. Why did he have to go to the police station? What had happened while he was gone? He hoped that everyone in his family was okay.
“Victoria? I really gotta go. I have to go to the police station,” he explained to her.
“The police station?” she inquired.
“Yeah,” Tay confirmed. “I don’t understand, either...” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The middle Hanson brother pulled up to the police station in awe. He had never been to a police station for any reason. His family had been lucky and never had anything stolen or broken the law.
He opened the door to the police station slowly, to see his mom, his two brothers, and...Bobby standing there.
“What’s Bobby doing here?” questioned Tay.
“Hold on, Tay,” Mrs. Hanson said. “Everything will be explained to you shortly.”
Taylor looked at everyone, seeing looks of disappointment on the faces of his family and then, seeing Bobby.
To Tay’s surprise, he looked a little more closely at Bobby to find that he had handcuffs encircled around his wrists, and a guilty look on his face. Now, Tay was really confused. What could Bobby have done?
“Okay,” started the fat policeman, as he sat down at his desk with a mug of coffee in his hand. “You all are probably wondering why Bobby is here, and why he called you guys to come see him, correct?”
All of the Hanson family members that were present, agreed with what the policeman had said.
The policeman leaned back in his chair, “Bobby came here, making a confession of breaking the law.”
“Bobby? Broke the law?” Zac seemed the most shocked out of everyone. Bobby and he had been best friends almost their entire lives. Zac thought he knew Bobby like he knew himself.
“Yes, he did,” the policeman confirmed. “Bobby, wh-”
The policeman was cut off by Bobby’s voice, “Excuse me, but I rather tell them the story. If it’s okay. I promise I’ll tell them exactly what I told you when I came here this morning.”
“I think that the boys and I would rather hear it from Bobby, anyway,” Mrs. Hanson stated, smiling at Bobby.
The room hushed as the Hanson family members awaited Bobby’s sudden confession of a crime. They all stared at him in disbelief that he broke the law, and yet, with respect that he’d come out and say it to them directly.
“Well,” Bobby began his story, “remember the day that Steven Greenberg called your house? And I was over? That’s when it happened.”
Taylor glanced at Ike and Zac, only to see them giving him the identical look back. It was a look of shock. Shock that the crime had anything to do with them.
Bobby continued, “You see, Zac, Chrissy and I were in the tree house, and we were bored out of our minds. We were all making suggestions on what we could do. Nothing we suggested really seemed good until Chrissy suggested we just go to LazerQuest, like we do every day.”
Zac recollected the moment of them all jumping out of the tree house, and going inside. So that Bobby could get his money... He always thought that it was a little weird not to have his wallet with him.
Bobby went on with his story, “The thing was...I was broke. So, I told Chrissy and Zac that I had to go inside and get my wallet. I walked into the boys’ room, pretending to find my wallet. But, I was really going through Zac’s things to try and find his wallet. I realized that he had it, though. So, I started going through his stuff. I found his wallet in a drawer and saw that it had sixty-five dollars in it. I only took twenty dollars, though. I shoved it in my pocket and headed out the door. I caught up with Zac and Chrissy, but we didn’t end up going to LazerQuest because Steven called. I still took the money, though.”
After Bobby’s confession, he hung his head low. He was afraid to look anyone from the Hanson family in the eye’s ever again. Bobby knew in his heart that he didn’t mean to hurt them, he just wanted some money so he could have some fun with them.
“You stole my money?” Tay was standing their with his mouth just literally hanging open. He always thought that Bobby was cool for a thirteen year old, but he would have never guess that he wasn’t trustworthy. “Bobby, you could’ve just asked me. I would’ve let you borrow some money.”
Still looking at the ground, Bobby mumbled, “I know, I know. I still have the money right now.”
Bobby reached into his pocket, “I think this is yours, Tay. In fact, I know it is.” Bobby pulled four five-dollar bills from his pocket, and held it out to Taylor.
Taylor cautiously took the money from Bobby’s hands. He couldn’t believe what was happening. He was taking his own money back...from a crook.
“I’m sorry...everyone. I’m sorry from absolutely everything,” Bobby pleaded for the understanding of the Hanson family.
“It’s okay, Bobby,” assured Mrs. Hanson. “We forgive you.”
Bobby looked at Taylor with a desparate glimpse in his eyes, “Tayles?”
Tay sighed heavily, “It’s okay, Bobby. No big deal. I’m just happy you realized what you did was wrong.” But, Taylor secretly thought, “I can’t believe this kid. I thought he wasn’t as low as this.”
Zac inquired, “What’s going to happen to Bobby?” He looked at the policeman with curiousity.
“Nothing much, I assure you,” the policeman told Zac. “He’ll probably just spend the night here. That’s all. Since he’s a minor, and the offense isn’t too serious, he’ll get off really easily.”
Mrs. Hanson was surprised to hear that he had to spend the night in prison, “He has to spend the night here?”
“Yes, ma’am. His parents’ll pick him up in the morning. 7 o’clock sharp.”
The Hanson family walked outside and to their cars. What happened in the police station was something they would’ve never expected to happen in their lives. It seemed way too out of the ordinary to be something that would happen to them, even though they knew anything could happen to anybody.
“If I were his parents, I’d just leave him there,” Taylor announced, not talking to anyone inparticular.
“Taylor!” Mrs. Hanson snapped.
“I don’t think anyone would blame me, either. Gosh, goin’ and stealin’ my money. I won’t be surprised if my bike is gone after he gets released,” Taylor rambled on.
“Taylor, honey. You are making this bigger than it is,” his mom tried to calm him down.
“No, I’m not,” he said plainly, before shutting the car door, and starting the engine.
Tay pulled out of the police station before Ike and his mom. He wanted to get out of there as fast as he could. He couldn’t believe that one of Zac’s best friend, who was practically like family since he three years old, had stolen money from him. It really disappointed him to know that. There was a bright side to the day, though. He had met a beautiful girl and definitely saw a future with her, more so than with Hallie. Taylor couldn’t wait to see her again. He hoped it would be soon, too. The longer he waited, the less of a chance he had with her...
