This was it. There they were, the Hanson family all sitting in an airplane waiting to make their journey toward Los Angeles, California. The Hanson family was leaving Tulsa. As they all sat in the plane, everything and everyone seemed to be at peace…except for Taylor. He was excited about beginning to record, again, but what about Hallie and Victoria? Taylor knew he had to choose between the two of them, soon. How could he, though? To him, it seemed like the most impossible thing in the world. Taylor had procrastinated the decision for so long, but he knew when he landed in Los Angeles, it would be a whole different perspective on the situation…and possibly, his problem would be solved. Or…would it become worse? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lying his head back on the head cushion, Tay sighed, thinking, “I wonder what Hallie…and Victoria, are doing…”
This trip to Los Angeles was really going to test his love and passion for the both of them. It was also going to test their love for him. Would either of them resist the temptation of cheating on him when his back was turned? Even though, he was practically doing the same thing to them?
“There’s got to be a way out of this,” the thought slipped Taylor’s mind. He felt like jumping out of the plane and running back to both Hallie and Victoria, confessing to the both of them, his wrong-doing.
“Is there anything I can get you, sir?” a plane attendant, asked Tay.
Tay turned to the woman, “Excuse me?”
“May I,” she repeated herself, “get you anything, sir?”
“If you could get me a Coke, that would be fantastic, thank you,” he told her.
After writing down Taylor’s order, the flight attendant moved onto the next row to take everyone else’s order.
Once again, Tay pressed his head against the headrest, closing his eyes and whispering, “I wish we’d just leave…” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ike and Zac were placed two rows behind Taylor, and were discussing the record that they were about to record. The both of them were trying to keep their minds off of things that were going on in Tulsa. Zac was trying to forget that he was neurotic about Chrissy hurting him, once he left Tulsa. Ike, on the other hand, didn’t want to think about Kat and her “tutor” Matthew. He was too positive that Matt was more than a tutor. “Anyway, Zac,” continued Ike, “what time tomorrow do we start recording?” “Pretty early, I’m sure,” confirmed Zac. “You know Chris and Mark. It’s always work, work, work. Sooner or later, I’m going to die from playing the drums too consistently. I expect to be awake by 7 in the morning…or earlier.” Isaac made a disgusted face, “Augh, can they do that? I’m gonna end up like, dead during the recording then…if that’s true.” “That’s what Mom told me.” “And she talked to Mark the other day,” Isaac saw that it was for more than certain, they’d be awake well before their bodies wanted to emerge, from their beds. ‘We’re going to do some warm-ups today when we get there,” Zac informed Ike. “So, I think we should try a rough harmony, now.” “Alright.” “Pick a song,” Zac left the choosing up to Isaac. Slowly, a depiction of Kat came crawling into Isaac’s mind, “How about the chorus to ‘More Than Anything’?” Zac smiled, “You got it, bro. You count off.” “Okay,” said Isaac snapping his fingers. “One, and…two, and…three, and…” “Harmoniously, the two brothers sang in a perfect two-part harmony, “I love you…more than anything…than anything, I do. And I’d give anything…and everything I have…just…to be with you. These feelings…I hold inside…are emotions I can not hide. These feelings…will not subside. I’d give anything…anything.” The two boys sang the song flawlessly. You could tell that they were hyped about recording another CD and had been practicing day in and day out. They were making sure that they didn’t lose their voices, or that anything horrible didn’t happen just before the recording. Though they were leaving Tulsa, the eldest and youngest Hanson brother in the group, Hanson knew they couldn’t disappoint their fans across the world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Taylor listened to his two brothers sing “More Than Anything” in pain. He never hated something so much in his life, as much as he loathed the situation that he had enclosed himself in. He knew what he was doing was incredibly mean and wrong, but he always listened to his heart. This time, though…his own heart just wasn’t right. Taylor was playing with fire and he knew it. He was glad to get away from it, but he’d miss Tulsa. “Did they really have to pick ‘More Than Anything’?” thought Taylor, thinking about Hallie and the pain that she caused him. “They know this song reminds me of…” His thoughts were interrupted by the terribly late flight attendant, “Here’s your Coke, sir.” “Thanks, ma’am.” As she walked away, Taylor went back to thinking, “Hallie…how could she inflict all that pain and not have it eat away at her? This is killing me, literally killing me…” The airplane began to shake as it prepared for takeoff. These were Hanson’s final moments in Tulsa for at least another six to seven months, possibly with brief visits to home. It was time for the Hanson family to say good-bye to Tulsa. Everyone in the Hanson family was going to miss Tulsa…but not like Taylor. He was going to miss not only his family and friends, but the comfort and security of home that it brought to him. Tulsa was home. Nothing in the world could take the place in Taylor’s heart. Tay was ecstatic about recording another CD, but he wished he could create his music in the comfort of T-town. Tulsa was a major part of Jordan Taylor Hanson and he knew that while he was gone, he’d be counting the days until his departure from Los Angeles. Taylor turned his his head and leaned it against the airplane window, a single tear falling to his cheek, whispering, “Good-bye, Tulsa…” In the time that they’d been home, the Hanson family went through hardship after hardship. They all learned so many lessons from their time back in Tulsa, and even grew a little. Though they all were excited about the making and creation of Album X, Tulsa was always home. The Hanson family had come to learn that the world they live in isn’t always the great streaming rainbow of love you make it out to be. Sometimes, you have to take the long road home…
