DAY OF THE DEAD

  • Directed by: George A. Romero
  • Written by: George A. Romero
  • Produced by: John A. Russo In a government complex built underground scientist and soldiers live together away from the zombies. But not to find a way to end the zombie infection, no. To use Zombies as soliders against other countries. Not a bad idea, using the dead in war games so they can be redead or actually attack thire enemies and spread the virus so that there are more zombies to terrorize us. (Pretty nice idea slick) Tension raises as Captain Rhodes (Joseph Pilato), a bloodthirsty leader, assumes control of the operation. He wants to bring an end to Dr. Logan's (Robert Liberty) experiments, kill all the zombies, and get the hell out of there (Smart guy. Bad personality.). Sarah (Lori Cardille), our heroine, is finally able to convince Rhodes that they need more time to complete their work. Being the good little solider he is...he can never turn away from an opportunity to make everyone else's life a living hell. Rhodes suspicion esclate when he finds Dr. Logan trying to domesticate a zombie he calls "Bub" (What are going to do teach em' tricks?). Logan realizes in his sick little mind that "they are us" (1990's Night of the Living Dead) and thus hold on to certain memories of their previous human existence. By tapping these memories, we can bring them under our control. Later Rhodes finds out that Logan has been using his dead comrades in his experiment (as food), and decides to pull-out with what's left of his squad. This is not before he kills the doctor and his assistant and sends our heroes to their probable deaths. But it seems there's a little special treat awaiting Rhodes and his boys. It's payback time. Some uninvited guests have shown up and there host "Bub" is serving up intestines asappetizers. As a little boy this film was boaring untill the end. now as a older teenager. This film has a story to it. Although it fails on some levels this film is truely a classic. Tom Savini worked hard with his crew in making the zombies in this third film awesome. The zombies in this fim are better then in most zombie films. The whole twenty minuet ending is very exciting and sick. If this film took place more on land then at the complex Im sure it would have been better then the other two. But of course we can't have it all. Rent this bad boy with the other two and watch it over and over again.
