More than a mate
The verse I write at any rate
I know not what will be its fate
The meaning that is in my mind
Have I been able to relate?
The sole experience I have gained
If I can ever inculcate
The message of faith, love and peace
If I can ever stimulate
I do not like my inward truth
To be discussed like a debate
The poet's heart is like a flower
So tender and so delicate
But anyhow, I need response
For which I can no longer wait
The words of appreciation
Do give my blood a rush of weight
Hi, good reader, I thank you
You look so learned and literate
Sweetish notes of music are
The words like 'outstanding' and 'great'
To think so highly of my verse
You are so kind, considerate
The sun of hope and confidence
Within my soul you radiate
The warmest gratitude I owe
To you, so friendly, intimate
Your approval is a wealth for me
To me you are more than a mate
