A Letter to a Friend
Lo! here is my postal mail
I come to thee like a gale
As this letter is so late
Should reach you now on the nail
"It's never too late to mend"
Though my illness makes me frail
You know well that I am slug
I write at the pace of snail
In spite of all my follies
Your goodness is to prevail
Your generosity is above board
Your sweetness can never fail
Please don't be angry with me
From my senses I derail
I cannot afford your wrath
I dread all it may entail
You are dearest to my heart
Your indifference makes me ail
I wish to wander with you
To the mountain from the dale
If you don't send your fresh love
I may choke myself in jail
Let your kindness touch my soul
Let my non-sense be "for sale"!
The letters you send to me
Are like the air I inhale!
The presents you send for me
Boost my morale, save my bail
Your words of love are to me
Like notes of a nightingale!
It is you who consoles me
You make me hearty and hale
From the last so many days
I am dismal, sad and pale
I suffer from insomnia
Due to depression I quail
I do wish you pray for me
Do not mind my woeful tale
I should never spoil your mood
I have no right to bewail
Over what I face these days
I had better draw a veil
With your valor you refute
"Weaker vessel is female"
With fine blend of comely traits
You are a lady cocktail
On the surface of the earth
You are a jewel without fail
What I wish is your pleasure
With good fortunes fill your pail
Let us with mirth celebrate
Your success to blaze a trail
On the canvas of my mind
There is no system of braille
Friend! I wish you all the best
God may bless you in detail
In the deep sea of my heart
You swim like a mighty whale
My candidness and my love
In my favor tip the scale
I put an end to my verse
Ere you wish me to curtail
Continued blessings and love
Your family and you I hail
