Trip to the Oregon Coast 2008

With all the rain we had on Tuesday, we decided to head back south and go play around Cannon Beach. We first get a motel in Seaside so we are set for the night. Then we go to the Seaside Aquarium where we can feed the seals. OH they were so cute! They would slap their chest for food, and if you waited to long to give it to them, they would splash you! I got a bit wet the first time, then I learned, Do not hesitate in giving them their treats. They knew when you had the treats too, because if you didn't have the treats, they did not splash you.

This is an octopus that was in his own little pool, and he seemed to be showing off for people. He was quite an awesome fella.

A very huge Lobster.

I turned onto an interesting road, and it put us in a condo complex, and this wire figure was in the center. It was pretty neat, of Lewis and Clark and Sagajawea.

Things you find on the beach. Just in case you were wondering what all the things are. This is quite interesting.

We then went to Eola State Park that is just out side of Cannon Beach. That is a very pretty place. This is the best spot to get a picture of Tillamook Rock Lighthouse.

You can walk a path down to Indian Beach, but it is a pretty rocky beach. So we just opted for Pictures.

This is Tillamook Rock. I got as close up as I could with my camera. There is quite a bit of material on it, and the history of the rock is quite interesting in itself.

Here are a couple of links for some reading up on the rock:

Very good Site on Tillamook Rock.

Wikipedia on Tillamook Rock.

We then went to the beach. Patricia had put her swim suit on, because she was very determined to GET WET IN THE OCEAN! It was also a bit colder today than it was on Monday. As you can see by some of the photos though, the tide was out and so there was a lot of beach, and she had to walk a long way out to get wet. Because the tide was so far out, she did not want to venture out to far, for fear there was a ledge that you could sink into, as she did not see anyone else out there any further. But she had a lot of fun, and I got a bit wet too, taking the pictures. Teehhe..

As we were leaving Cannon Beach headed to Seaside for Dinner, The exit ramp to the highway, I spied this right along side the road, just eating without a care in the world. I had to make some sounds to get him to look at us. It was a poor excuse for an elk, the sounds that emitted from my vocal cords. But he looked up for a pretty photo shot. Of course I had to get in the picture to show you how close he was to us.
