Alan Edwards
Hello sportsentertainmenttriplehwonagainitsnosurprise fans! Last night was the end of the world, and today we're gonna talk about it. We didn't do quite so bad with the predictions this month, actually things went great. The format for this article is changing, and we'll be reviewing matches individually now. For each match, our predictions, the result, and any interesting notes. Get used to it. It's Microsoft PPV Recap XP, and if you don't have it, you're screwed.

World Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match
The Dudley Boyz vs. The Un-Americans vs. Booker T. & Goldust vs. Chris Jericho & Christian
Winners: Booker T and Goldust
Predictions: Alan - Booker T and Goldust, Tabie - Booker T and Goldust, Johnny - Dudley Boyz
Nobody expected Storm and Regal to be around long, but the Dudleyz early exit was a surprise to many. However, this brought it down to the champs and the duo that almost split up this week. Goldust said he was the weak link, and Booker T told him they were gonna go in and win it together. That pretty much cemented their victory in my eyes. WWE seemed to realize the team was losing heat, but the fans wanted more. The existence of this tag team needed to be substantiated by something, and that something was the WWE Tag Team Championship. Great match.

Edge vs. The A-Train
Winner: Edge, by DQ
Predictions: Alan - A-Train, Tabie - A-Train, Johnny - Edge
Everyone was pulling for Edge on this match. A-Train is nobody, and he shouldn't be on a PPV. However, he's working with Heyman and Show, and he put out Rey on an injury angle. He comes straight from Velocity onto the PPV, and gets a name change and new music on the way. All signs pointed to A-Train taking this one, but Edge went over. Perhaps this means Edge will have an even bigger push now, for his decent match with this terrible worker. Either way, the instant super-push A-Train has seems to be dying already, and he'll probably be relegated to the bottom of the SmackDown barrel within weeks.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit
Winner: Chris Benoit
Predictions: Alan - Eddie Guerrero, Tabie - Eddie Guerrero, Johnny - Chris Benoit Notice how all my wrong predictions (when Alan and the TABSTER both got it right) are when I had no faith in the bookers. VICE VERSA, I got it when they didn't use logic. HAW.
This match wasn't as good as it could have been, not even with the German Suplex Marathon at the end. The last couple minutes were exciting, but Benoit and Eddie could do much better for a PPV. Benoit won, so where do we go now? This doesn't add to Eddie's recent push, and Benoit has more heat and nowhere to go. He can't feud with Angle again, because Angle has feud options all around him with the title. Seems Benoit won the match just to continue feuding with Eddie. Look for this same match at the next 3 or 4 PPV's.

Dawn Marie vs Torrie Wilson
Winner: Dawn Marie (by default, because Torrie didn't show up and Dawn got all the heat)
Predictions: Alan - Dawn Marie, Tabie - Dawn Marie, Johnny - Dawn Marie
Torrie didn't show up for the event, so there was no match. However, Dawn Marie did show up with her fiance and her video footage. The HLA wasn't just teased this time, as the kissing was definitely visible and real. Al got pissy and demanded that Dawn Marie stop showing footage of his daughter and his fiance playing house. At this point, the audience chants "asshole," and it quickly becomes the loudest chant of the entire night. No joke, from what we could hear on TV, nothing came through as loud as the chant for AL FRICKIN' WILSON. Stupid Fort Lauderdale fans. This feud isn't over. This feud is still hot, and I think it will come to a head at Rumble.

Kane vs. Batista
Winner: Batista
Predictions: Alan - Batista, Tabie - Batista, Johnny - Batista
What is there to say? Flair gets involved, gets squashed, but gets Kane's attention long enough for Batista to screw up one powerbomb and finally hit another for the victory. Predictable.

Women’s Championship Match
Victoria vs. Trish Stratus vs. Jacqueline
Winner: Victoria
Predictions: Alan - Victoria, Tabie - Victoria, Johnny - Victoria
It was short. It was well paced. It was effective. Victoria wins with a title shot to Trish's forehead. For a women's match, it was very decent. Victoria, from here, could end both feuds, continue one, start another...the options are open. Gail Kim could debut, Lita could come back up from HEAT...WWE actually did a good job booking this one.

WWE Undisputed Championship Match
The Big Show w/ Paul Heyman vs. Kurt Angle
Winner: Kurt Angle
Predictions: Alan - Kurt Angle, Tabie - Kurt Angle, Johnny - Big Show
This was a great match! Big Show worked, which was interesting to see, and Angle did his thing the way only Angle can. Albert interfered a little, Paul interfered a little, and all the usual spots were hit. Big Show got the chokeslam as the ref was out, and it really seemed to be over. Paul looked scared through the whole ordeal, because he knew BROCK was about to make an impact. After the big choke slam, Lesnar made his way down and hit the F5. Show's foot caught on Lesnar's head, so they blew the spot, but it could've been much worse. The spot was effective, the crowd went nuts, Lesnar chased Paul to the back and Angle covered Big Show to win the title. GREAT booking and working, and this sets things up to really get exciting on SmackDown.

World Championship 2/3 Falls Match
Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H w/ Ric Flair
Winner: Triple H
Predictions: Alan - HHH, Tabie - HHH, Johnny - HHH
I actually enjoyed these. The bumps were sick, the blood was everywhere, and the match was entertaining. It was quite obvious who was gonna win, but it was booked in a way that told a story, and actually led spectators to believe it could go either way. This ends the feud and allows Michaels to retire, or it sets him up for a feud with RVD, whatever he likes. Triple H is going to feud with Steiner if WWE has any sense. Double Main Event, WMX9, Brock vs Angle and HHH vs Steiner. Unfortunately, we all realize the odds of that, but regardless...not a bad PPV. A real sleeper...it was thought to be a very boring card, and turned out to be a decent show.

That's it for this week. Coming up next week, who knows what. Either way, be sure to drop back. Alanpugh@sbcglobal.net for questions or comments. As always, keep your shoulders off the mat, and keep reaching for the ropes.

I liked *static*, where did that go?
