Well here we go again it's only been like months... meh. I figure I might throw something new out for you. Enjoy, because I am currently writing a MASSIVE PPV for my e-fed (go ahead laugh, it's just a game fellas) so I'm making this a quickie. For all the guys coming from the Online Onslaught Board I say thanks. And yes Eli I know you're here. You said you'd be. You wouldn't lie to me would you? Sorry about the ads but soon I am going to switch to an adless account so no worries. I don't have 5 points, just one thing to talk about.
What the hell am I supposed to say? That maybe Hall didn't deserve to be fired? That he should sue? Rumours are flying but what's the truth? What got Hall fired? Can I write a sentence that isn't a question? Sure I can. People, I am one of the world's biggest Scott Hall fans. But was he not brought back on account of "one strike you're out?"
Let's see... did he drink? Sources say yes. Strike one. Drunk or not, strike one.
Was he being a dick backstage? Survey says, yes. Strike two.
Scott was brought back as part of the nWo to help ratings. Ratings popped then fizzled. Someone has to hold the bag. Now let's say you're flunkie writer #27. Your writing sucks or maybe it's good. Regardless what's landing on TV SUCKS. Someone has to take the blame. Steph? Invincible. Daddy's girl. Hunter? Invincible. Daddy's girl's boy. Big and strong. The way Vince likes them. Paul? Invincible. He keeps the ECW guys in line. He comes up with good ideas occasionally. He can spot and make a star. He's a good valet, announcer, and writer. When the shit completely hits the fan in any of the WWF's areas Uncle Paul can be thrown into save that area. Plus, the last thing Vince wants is RVD, Rhino, and God knows who else following him to NWA or anywhere else. We're number one. The only one. We have to stay that way. Who takes blame? Let's blame the talent brought in for the fix. They're not over. It's not the way we portray them. The crowd doesn't care Vince. We don't remember that Goldberg got almost ZERO reaction until kicking out of Morrus' moonsault. It's not us Vince. It's them. It's the nWo Vince. We need to punish someone. NOW, imagine that the flight from Hell happens. Everyone gets the same idea. They're abusing alcohol and acting like idiots. We have to make an example out of someone. And Hall has fallen off the wagon. We don't need him. Austin doesn't want to work with him. He's stopped taking his meds. Why keep him Vince? Where are the ratings? Strike three.
Hall's out. And even though he's not to blame for the nWo angle biting, he still deserved it. He had two or three strikes when all they needed was one. Hennig deserved what he got. Goldust should have joined him. And if Flair really did what he did he should be out too. Grut was disappointed and angry. Seadawg was disappointed and not surprised. What am I? Apathetic. Hall's my third favorite wrestler and I don't care that he's gone. He wasn't being used well and the less time he spends on the road the longer he'll probably live. How many people have a deathpool between Hall and Jake Roberts? I don't want to know.
The minute Hall was gone I should've wrote this, and a thousand more words. But I couldn't. Business may not be dying, but it isn't good. I won't stop watching altogether but I find myself able to skip a few shows every month. There was a time when I didn't miss ANY show that was available. When I didn't want to watch Undertaker plod around or HHH growl nothing for ten minutes I flipped to watch a 10 minute or more cruiser match, Lance Storm's meteoric rise to the main event leading Team Canada, or even MIA and NBT (who weren't the best workers but who gave everything they had every night) on WCW. When I didn't wanna watch Hogan I could turn to the WWF. Reality Check:There is nowhere to go but away to escape Hunter, Hogan, and Taker. Cruiser matches are 2 to 5 minutes. Lance Storm is making his way, but slowly and unsurely as a low man on the totem pole in a constantly shown, eluded to, but never officially established and named faction. MIA has become MIA for the most part:Morrus is invisible except for the second and third rate shows, lord knows where Lash is (but it's probably HWA or OVW and there are quite a few people who will show up before him if that is the case) and Chavo is the most frequent of them on the big 2. NBT is in the same boat as MIA but replace Chavo with Chuck in the equation.
Why aren't WCW casual fans watching? Because there is no WCW. And all WCW guys are WWFized with little ties or resemblance to their WCW selves. Why aren't WWF casual fans watching? Because the product is weary or weak and business is a cycle and we're on the way down right now. Who's gonna be left? The smarks. You and I. The same people who will NEVER be happy as a majority but won't let this go. Talk about no options. The casual fans are in down mode and there really is no reason they should risk their sanity by trying to please the smarks. So what can they do? What can we do? Wait. It may go down like WCW did. But not every part of History repeats. WWF may make the same mistakes but you know what? We were all marks on our road to being smarks, smarts, or hardcore fans. And at least a little piece of us is STILL a mark. It may have taken me forever to have the motivation to write this but I did. The name may change, the shows may be laughably bad, and I may shake my head and worry but it's happened before. And every time I get to the brink of giving up I can hear that mark in my head whisper. "It'll get better. What if something cool happens if I skip the next show? What if a hundred cool things happen? What if so and so returns? Or what's his name debuts? Or that guy does something funny or busts out a new move? I think I'll watch."
Wasn't so short... hm. To close out, here are a few poems about Scott Hall if you're still with me.
---------------------- Ode to Hall Hey YO. Your fallaway slams ROCK. Your stiff clotheslines ROLL. The Razor's Edge almost brought me to tears when I saw it live. But you've used up your last chance. I will miss... your mic skills, your ring skills, and everything else you have that
Edge, Albert, and Test don't have when one of them reaches the top. It's too bad your demons may never be layed to rest. Either that or Hogan got you the fuck out, to make way for Goldberg because Hogan's a political bastard. Don't let drugs turn you into Jake Roberts. Don't let the WWA drag you down. Don't ask yourself what might have been in the WWE. And if you get tied up by the Direct TV NWA make sure they pay you in advance, before they crash and burn like the Hindenburg. It's last call Hall. And I raise my glass to you. To thank you for the entertainment. To honor your accomplishments. And to say goodbye. Seeya. -------------------------- A Haiku About Hall Hey yo n-W-o Here he comes then there he goes Please try rehab Scott -------------------------- Hall Fired?(freestyled) Let me tell you, that news is just poo, Hall was drinking but not drunk, shouldn't a got buzzed but whoda thunk, even Hennig and Flair would play the jackasses, among the civilian plane's masses which left Vince's temper storming, the boys in the back needed a warning, so who can be the example to show? Who's the biggest drunk we know? Seeya Scott don't let the door hit ya, and in a couple months you'll be takin Kev wit ya, daddy Vince had to scare the piss out the kiddos, but I still give you my kudos, I can spell scapegoat and I can say it real good. Can you catch my drift, sure I knew ya could.
