Alternative Lifestyles

Once again, if you have come here to read what I have to say, thank you. This entry is one that I feel is very important and needs to be said.

Right now I am in college and have been exposed to a lot of different tings since I have gotten here. Even though I had been exposed to much of it previously, college is a place where certain things are thrown into the open in a very care free way, and unlike my past, mom and dad are not always there to censor everything that goes on around me.

The main lifestyle that I am speaking of is homosexuality. During this week alone (3-30-01), There have been many articles in our school newpaper about gay rights.

According to guidelines that newspapers follow, people are allowed to write in and express their opinions on certain topics that have been previously covered in editorial articles. These 'letters to the editor' as we all know them portray the views that some individual might hold.

Just so you'll know, yes I have a point. My point is, many of the editorials written have been complaining that there is not enough action being taken to insure gay rights. In response to one such article, a person responded and basically bashed the individual telling them they are wrong and using terms that might defame the other individual and were used in a negative conotation.

In this entry, I would like to bring to everyone's attention (Christian or not) WE ARE NOT TO JUDGE!

I am in no way saying that if someone you know has a lifestyle that you do not like or think is wrong, that you should condone it. If you were to, it would make you a hypocrit to spout off certain philosophies, and then contradict them by telling that individual that their life is okay.

I am not specifically speaking about homosexuality. This has to do with paganism, sexual orientation, pre-marital sex, or any other lifestyle that one might find offensive or that might go against the norms and values of your individual beliefs.

When someone bashes another individual and speaks words of hate towards another person, that is just as wrong as the person commiting the alternative lifestyle. In the case of the letter to the editor who bashed the gay individual, we are all aware that the Bible speaks against homosexuality. The book of Leviticus is just one of the books that speaks against it. However, we also need to realise that no one on this earth is in no postition to judge anyone else or to hate anyone else. Matthew 19:19 states that we are to love our neighbors. No matter what they do, no matter who they are, we are to love them.

Love is one of the strongest forces we have on this earth. You in no way have to love the life that someone has, but try and love that individual as simply that. An individual, like the rest of us, who is going to make mistakes and who is going to mess up.

We all need to remember, we all fell short of the glory of God. We were all cursed from day one to sin. Sin is sin in God's eyes. Regardless if it's murder or lying. Let's all try and keep this in mind as we go through our days.

Take care, and God bless you all who have read this.
