Akknart is a tall, solid man, with a forbidding, craggy face. His sharp eyes peer out from under bushy brows and his heavily tanned face is dominated by a hawk-like nose. His short black hair and small beard are lightly seamed with grey. He dresses in rich, but not ostentatious clothes, mostly appearing as a wealthy merchant or prosperous tradesman. He has been a witchfinder for over 30 years, building up a vast store of knowledge on the activities of heretics and cultists throughout the Saharnian Empire. Mostly he operates alone, or with a few trusted assistants. He has found before that the enemies of righteousness can be found inside the sacred city as well as outside. He is a better than competent sorceror, although he dislikes sorcery in general (regarding it as a necessary but dangerous tool). However, the many tight spots he has been in in the past, combined with constant practice, have made him a superb fighter.
In personality, he is devious, but implacable. Although a fanatic, he will never charge blindly ahead, always seeking to expose his enemies weaknesses. He is completely ruthless, and will happily sacrifice any of his helpers to gain his ends. If overmatched, he will use his magic ring to escape combat, intending to return and triumph later.
