Greatfang
This predator inhabits the tundra and taiga of Northern
Gorgamelle. The Greatfang once roamed more temperate climes as well,
but it has been hunted to extinction there, and even in the north
they have become wary of humans. At first glance, the Greatfang
appears almost comically overbuilt. It has heavy muscled shoulders
and a large head dominated by two enormous protruding fangs. These
are the two front upper teeth, which curve down and join to make a
formidable slashing weapon. These terrible teeth allow the Greatfang
to hunt the mighty Wurundor, its usual prey. Greatfangs hunt in
small packs, darting in to deliver slashing wounds which cripple and
eventually bring down their great opponent. Greatfangs are darkish
grey, and their heavy forequarters are further emphasised by a black
mane that cascades over their shoulders and down the upper part of
their back. Although Greatfang packs follow the Wurundor, they are
not above feeding on smaller prey, and their heavily taloned forepaws
are almost as deadly as their bite. Greatfang pelts are highly
coveted by the northern tribes, but only the hardiest hunters stalk
them, since few can survive even their initial onslaught.
