Kalamash Brother-slayer is the sort of name one would expect to be attached to a hardened, scar covered thug. Instead, the man so-called is a burly, cheerful Irilian man, with a face which is perpetually sun-reddened and a short sandy beard, his hair is worn long and tied back in a short, clubbed pigtail. He rather resents the fact that he has been unable to shake the name. He could easily be mistaken for a prosperous merchant, which in fact he once was. Kalamash and his brother were in business together, and did reasonably well. However, his brother had a beautiful if somewhat shrewish wife, who made the mistake of trying to attract her husband's attention by playing up to Kalamash, who was infatuated with her. On their next voyage, his brother disappeared over the side and Kalamash made the mistake of confessing his involvement to this brother's widow when he attempted to woo her. He only just made it down-river ahead of the city watch and spent several years with the Red Brotherhood, and he developed quite a career as a pirate, before heading into the Sidamo mountains in search of the legendary treasure of Shasshamanse. He never found it, but he did find employment with the Fon. Kalamash is not as bad sort, as he tells it and he can be charming company, but he cares really only for one thing - his own wealth and comfort. While not a cold-blooded killer, he will cheerfully sell anyone else down the river to advance his own prospects. He tends to dress floridly - plenty of gold chains and jewellery, and is never far from one of the slim swords of the Red Brotherhood.
His combat technique is to engage an enemy with his sword, fence with them to size them up (Find Weakness) and then deliver a single, lethal blow. He is a acrobatic combatant, leaping, rolling and dodging all over the place and is happiest fighting in crowded quarters (like a ship). However, while a nimble opponent, he is also very tough and can take quite a bit of punishment.
