The original title of the movie was The Adventures of the Starkiller.
This is a rumored story of how the name R2D2 was born. It started as a conversation between George Lucas and one of the film's editors. As they were editing American Graffiti the editor asked Lucas for "Reel 2, Dialog 2." That tape was named R2D2. It somehow got into the script of Star Wars. You know the rest.
Lucas considered casting the part of Obi-Wan Kenobi with a Japanese actor.
