Featured Poem of the Month

A Day, by John Perry

What does it take to make a day?
A lot of love along the way:
It takes a morning and a noon,
A father's voice, and a mother's croon;
It takes a task to challenge all
The powers that a man may call
His own: the powers of mind and limb;
A whispered word of love; a hymn
Or hope -a comrade's cheer-
A baby's laughter and a tear;
It takes a dream, a hope, a cry
Of need from some soul passing by;
A sense of brotherhood and love;
A purpose sent from God above;
It takes a sunset in the sky,
The stars of night, the winds that sigh;
It takes a breath of scented air,
A mother's kiss, a baby's prayer.
That is what it takes to make a day:
A lot of love along the way.

Poems

Longing, by John Perry

     Sweet lingistic style, John's such a wonderful poet.  I've always wondered if longing was a good or bad thing.  I guess it's just one of those universal mysteries.

A Day, by John Perry

     Another lovely poem by John

Chanleen, by John Perry

     Most of you that know me personally knows my alis is Chanleen, and yes this poem is about me.  This poem is my favorite of John's because of the essence he has captured in it.  An essence of us.

Untitled, by John Perry

     I don't remember him giving me a name for this one.  It's sweet, gentle, and calming like his other ones though.

Spec Innvocata, by Evelyn Dupree

     One of my dark and twisted poem.  I wrote this when in pain from a boy that dumped me hard (the jerk).  It barely rhymes, barely has a rhythm and is basically in chaos...everything a poem shouldn't be.  But it is entertaining...I really can't help but to laugh reading it now.  Just goes to show...love knows no fury than a womans scorn.  Spec Innvocata means unsummoned hope in latin.

Revelations, by Evelyn Dupree

     Just something I whipped up when cutting school.

The Sky, by Evelyn Dupree

     Short, sweet, and fragrant love poem.

Beyond the Darkness, by Evelyn Dupree

     This is dedicated to my brother.  A very special poem to me about death.

Haiku Collection, by Evelyn Dupree

     Pretty self-explanitory

A Collection of Short Poems, by Jack Chung

     Just some short poems by my first boyfriend.  I stumbled upon this work posted in his English classroom wall and when no one was looking I just took the damn thing.  Hey, I liked them.

Immortal Finale, by Calia Bui
                          edited by Evelyn Dupree

     Writen by one of my best friends. Not sure what this poems about, I don't even think she knows, but it does mirror her life somehow.  It's neat.

Jabberwocky, by Lewis Carroll

Yes this is the poem recited endlessly by the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. I love this poem, it's silly and short, but always with imagination.
