Deception : False ProphetsCurrently , there are some pretty amazing "things" happening in the name of our Lord. Revival is spreading and people are "experiencing" mighty moves of the "Spirit". Or are they? One night as we ended fellowship, the topic of discussion turned towards the "signs and wonders" exploding among the believers. While ministering on the earth, Yeshua warned about signs and wonders during the last days.
Despite these words from the Lord, most are seeking after signs and wonders. The supernatural is craved for and if something "looks" like it's from God, few will stop to test it.
Careful scrutiny must be given to anything or anyone that appears to opperate in the realm of the supernatural, before it is determined that they are indeed from God. I believe that a cry of warning needs to be sounded. Please understand, my intention is to point people towards the written Word of God as their authority in order to stop the enemy from deceiving them. It is not my desire to call in question the "hearts" of the men and women involved. That is not my job , nor yours. What is our job is to be vigilant for the TRUTH.
There are many areas we could examine. We could look at the recent explosion of "phenomenon" occuring at revivals. Much of what is being reported at these spiritual outbreaks, really needs to be held up to the light of scripture. Likewise the claims that are emerging concerning the showering of gold on believers. However, what I want to examine is a step beyond even these. A well known TV minister has made prophetic claims that Jesus / Yeshua, will soon be making appearances at churches and crusades. According to this man, as the Lord appeared after His resurrection , He will appear before His second coming. And why is the Lord going to "show up" during services? To wake us up, of course. So we can prepare for His soon return. So where are scriptural foundations for such a claim? In what book do the prophets or apostles tell us that before His return , the Lord will physically show up at meetings to promote an awareness of His second coming? Well, friends, search all you like, but there is NO PLACE in the written Word of God , where such promises are made. At no time did the prophets or apostles speak of Messiah manifesting in the flesh prior to His return. But this well known healer has been given a "word" from another minister. She was "led by the spirit" to tell this man's wife that her husband's crusades would be marked with the physical manifestation of Jesus. Well, let's put that to the test of scritpture.
"They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: THY WORD IS TRUTH". John 17:16-17 "And ye shall know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH shall make you free". John 8:32
Now , let's take a look at what Yeshua said about personal appearances before His return.
The Lord warned us. There will be in the last days, false prophets telling the people that Jesus is showing up in differant places. This very prediction will not only label that individual as a false prophet but it will be an indication that we are indeed seeing the unfolding of the end times. So what do we conclude from this? It's simple. The "sign and wonder" of the Lord appearing during gatherings is a "false sign". Do not be decieved!!! Do not go forth, do not believe!! Hold fast to sound doctrine. Hold fast to the Word of God.
