Elisha migrated from Lee County Virginia in January 1850 and settled in Eastern Kentucky.
He enlisted in the original 7th Ky. Union Army August 19, 1861, and reported for duty Sept. 22, 1861 as a Musician/Private.
He was discharged a First Sergeant Oct. 5, 1864 at Louisville Ky. After serving his 3 year enlistment in which he saw action many times including the siege of Vicksburg Mississippi.
Since many of the settlers in Eastern Ky came from Lee County Va. they wanted a Lee County Ky. So eventually they took parts of all the adjoining County's and formed Lee County as we know it today.
Elsiha was the head surveyor of Lee County and is mentioned in many of the historical documents and publications of Lee County Ky.
Elisha is buried in Clay City Ky near his second wife Mary, his first wife Susan Pittman the mother of all his children is buried at Hopewell Ky on the hill above Beattyville Ky just off old route 52.
Elisha is buried at Clay City Ky. in the Eaton Cemetary on Wells Street.
