“I know exactly what you mean.” That was my other best friend Sami.
We had just got our outfits for the city wide talent search that was being held in 2 days. We had our own band, called “Heaven”. By saying “we”, I mean, me (Tannar), Sami, Justine, and Mary. We played mostly pop music, but we could also rock! We played our own instruments and sang the songs, which were all writen by us. Anyways, back to the mall.
“Can you believe the contest is 2 days away??” I exclaimed, as we walked past a group of totally hot guys.
“No!! It seems like just yesterday, when your mom told us about it. But it was really 2 months ago.” Mary said. “But if I don’t eat soon, I think I’ll die!!” Can we eat now PLEASE?”
“Alright, Mares. I think we are all hungry.” Justine replied.
“Amen, to that!!” Sami said. We all laughed.
So, we went to the food court and bought our food. While we were finishing, the group of guys cameand sat down at the table beside us. There was 4 of them. One smiled at me, and I smiled back, being the flirt that I am. “Cute” I noticed. He had brown hair, with blond highlights that went down to about his ears. His eyes were a chocolate brown and his smile was so cute!! He looked at me again, before turning to talk to one of the other guys.
“You guys ready to go?” Sami asked. “Erik should be waiting for us.”
So, we all got up and started to walk away. I looked back at the guy with the cool hair and I found that he was looking right at me. We exchanged smiles and I turned back around and tagged along with the rest of my friends.
When we got outside, Erik was no wheres in sight. Erik was Sami’s older brother. Justine had a secret crush on him, but it wasn’t much of a secret because everyone, Erik included, knew.
Mary, Sami and Justine were talking about some new video they had seen on MTV earlier, but I wasn’t paying much attention. I was thinking about that guy.
Just then, the guy, along with the other 3 came out. The guy who I happened to be checking out, came over to me.
“Hey, I’m Bob.” He spoke. He was slightly pink in the cheeks, and a sparkle in his eye.
“Hi. I’m Tannar.” I answered, blushing a bit myself.
“Nice day, isn’t it?” He asked, nervously.
“Yes. A very nice day.” I matched his nervousness.
“These are my brothers, Clint, Dave, and Scott.” He told me. Clint looked just like Bob, except he had short hair.
“Hi, guys.” I spoke, “These are my friends, Sami, Justine, and Mary.”
“Hey.” The guys replied at the same time.
“So, are you guys from around here? I’ve never seen you around before.” Mary asked, apparently only wanting Clint to answer.
“No, we just moved down here. We lived in Canada until about a week ago.” Scott answered, looking at Justine.
“Cool.” She replied.
“Where are you living?” I asked them.
“Up in Prenton Heights.” Bob answered.
“Oh cool. That is like 2 minutes from my house. I live in Monte Crisco.” Sami said.
“She lives in the “rich” area of town.” I said, laughing. That was a huge joke we had between the 4 of us. Everyone always joked about how she lived in the upper-class neighbourhood of town.
“Cool.” Dave replied, “You guys waiting for someone?”
“Yeah. Sami’s brother is supposed to be here.” Just then, her cell phone rang.
“Yallo?” She answered, “What? Well, how are we supposed to get home?” She asked into the phone, “Whatever. Can you call a cab for us? Tell them we’ll pay when we get home.”
“Hey we could give you a ride.” Dave spoke up.
“Hold on, Dad.” Sami said, covering the mouth piece, “Are you sure?”
“Yeah. We got the van here. We’ll make room.” He answered sweetly.
“Ok. Thanks so much.” Sami went back to the phone. “Uh, Dad. We got a ride. Sure. Yep. Ok, luv you too.” She hung up.” Thank you so much. I hate cab drivers.”
“No problem.” Scott said.
“Are you ready to go now?” Bob asked.
“Yeah, we need to get home to practise.” I said.
“Practise what?” Clint asked.
“Oh. We have our own band and we are in a talent contest on Saturday.” I said.
“Cool. Can we see you sometime?” Scott asked, as we walked to the van.
“Well. . . .” Justine started.
“Of coarse. You can come today if ya want.” Sami answered.
“Ok. Great.” Dave smiled.
So we took off for her house, where we had our practises. Justine, Bob, and I sat in back. Sami, Dave, and Mary sat in the middle seat, and Clint and Scott sat in front.
“So, how old are you guys?” Mary asked.
“Bob, Clint, and I are 16, and Scott is 17.” Dave answered.
“Bob and I are triplets.” Clint stated.
“Yeah, I noticed the resembalance.” I remarked.
“What kind of music are you into?” Bob asked me.
“Everything.” I replied.
“What do you mean by ‘everything’?” He said.
“Well, my favorites are Kid Rock, Eminem, Hole, Nirvana, Blink 182, Hanson. And I heard this awesome group on the radio. Some song called Boom Boom Bang, or Bang Bang Boom, or something along those lines.” I replied, trying to think of the band.
Scott and Clint smiled at each other.
“What are you smiling about?” I questioned.
“Did the band sound like this?” Bob asked, as he counted “1,2,3.” Then they started to sing the song I had heard on the radio that very day.
“Oh my gosh. You are that band.” I cried.
“Yeah. Bob Moffatt at your service.” He said, in a phoney British accent.
“Oh my gosh!!” Justine screamed, “ I can’t belive this. This is so cool. I am so sorry for screaming like that. It’s just that I get really hyper and I’ve never met anyone famous before. Oh Gosh. I am babbling cause I babble a lot. I try not to it’s just that . . . “
“Justine, calm down” Mary said, trying to calm down our friend. Bob and his brothers thought it was the funniest thing.
“Ok. I’m sorry.” Justine apogized.
“It’s ok.” Scott answered.
“Take a left here, and it’s the first house on the right.” Sami directed.
We pulled into her driveway, and Bob got out before me. When I got out, he pretended to be a chauffer.
“Why thank you sir.” I joked.
“You guys can just go downstairs. Tannar and Mary will show you around down there.” Sami and Justine went to get water and sodas from the fridge upstairs.
When we returned everyone was sitting around on Sami's family room floor.
“This room is awesome.” Dave said.
“Yeah. Her dad installed the lights and we decorated it ourselves.” Mary told them, “We keep our instruments here most of the time, unless we have a show or something.” They were talking about my rec room.
There was a black light, a disco ball, and laser lights hanging from the ceiling. The walls were yellow, the carpet was orange, and most of the furniture was red, including curtains, the tv stand and the 5 bean bag chairs.
“This is where we are gonna shoot our first video.” I stated.
“This would make an awesome set.” Bob replied.
“Ok, girls. Let’s see what ya’ll can do.” Dave said, taking a handful of jelly beans that were on the table. I grabbed my guitar and waited for everyone else to take their places. When Sami was ready, she counted and we all started to play one of the songs we were working on for the talent show. It was called “Illusions” and we did it perfectly.
“That was amazing! Where did you learn to play like that?” Dave exclaimed.
“We have taken lessons since we were all 8, except Mary. She’s taken piano sice she was like 4.” I answered.
“Wow. You guys are going to win that show for sure.” Scott said.
“Thanks.” We all said.
“Why aren’t you guys touring or whatever you guys do?” Sami questioned.
“We took some time off before we start touring. We’ll probably hit the road within the next 2 or 3 months.” Clint explained.
“Cool.” Justine replied.
“Hey do you want to watch a movie or something? My mom won’t be home for like 3 hours so we have lots of time.” Sami asked.
“Uh sure. What do you want to watch?” Bob asked.
“How about Armageddon?” Clint said, looking at my collection of movies.
“Sounds good to me.” Dave said.
So we sat down in Sami's room and watched the movie. Bob and I sat on the bed against the head board. Dave and Sami sat at the end of the bed on the floor. Scott and Justine sat in the huge blow up chair and Mary sat on th floor between Clint’s legs who was sitting on the floor.
Half way during the movie, I caught Bob looking over at me and I smiled at him. Hw took my hand and gently squeezed it. He was so sweet. I glanced at Scott and Justine who were making out heavily. And the other 4 looked like Bob and I.
When the movie was over, Bob said to me “Tannar, can I talk to you- ALONE, please?”
“Yeah, sure. Let’s go out to the porch.” I replied and he nodded.
We walked outside. Bob looked up at the sky and I joined him.
“Tannar. Well, now. This is going to be tough.” He looked at me and continued, “Ok. Since the first time I saw you, which was like 6 hours ago, I have really liked you. And if you don’t feel the same- please don’t mention this to anyone, especially my brothers. But if you feel the same, would you . . . . um . . . . like to be my girlfriend?”
“Well. . . . I would love to.” I smiled at him sweetly.
“Oh my gosh, thank you.” He kissed me softly, “Do you want to go to for a walk or something?”
“I would love to. Let me go get my coat and I’ll tell the others were going.” I said.
“Ok.”
So I went inside and told them we were going for a walk and that I probably would just walk home later. Justine smiled the smile that ment “Are you going out with him?” And I just nodded my head. I left to go back outside with Bob.
“Ready to go?” He asked.
“Of course.” I replied, as he took my hand. We walked silently for a few minutes, until Bob broke the nervous silence.
“It’s really a nice night isn’t it?” He asked.
“Yeah, it’s beautiful. Hey do you want to go back to my place and talk or something?” I offered.
“Sure.”
We walked to my apartment talking about everything and getting to know each other better.
“Is this your apartment?” He asked.
“Yep, this is my luxurious humble establishment.” I replied, and we both laughed, “Ok. Follow me.” I told him as I lead him up the stairs to the 4th floor, which was where my apartment was.
“Wait here.” I told him. I went inside to see if my Grandmother was home yet. When I found the note that said she was at Bingo, and she wouldn’t be home for another 2 hours, I told Bob he could come inside.
When he came in, I told him to sit down at the table and I’d be right back. I ran into my room and changed from my short black shirt and tank top I had been wearing, and put on flared jeans and a green v-neck sweater, and I grabbed my cheerleading jacket and threw on my Nikes. I took my hair out of the clips it had been in, and put it in a messy bun and took off all of my make up and slapped on some lip gloss.
“Ok. Let’s go.” I said to Bob.
He followed me back outside into the hall way but instead of going down the stairs, I walked up the next flight.
“Where are we going?” He asked.
“You’ll see when we get there.” I replied.
We went to the very top floor and walked to the end of the hall. I opened the door and Bob followed me up 3 stairs. We were on the roof.
“Wow. This is amazing.” Bob exclaimed. We could see all of LA.
“I know. I used to come up here after my mom died.” I replied, leaning over the railing.
“Your mom died?”
“Yeah. 5 years ago.”
“Who do you live with?”
“My grandmother.”
“Where’s your dad?”
“He took off before I was born.”
“Am I asking too many questions?”
“No, just no more about my mom and dad ok?”
“Sure thing.”
So that’s what we did for the next 3 hours, until Bob called Scott and he came to get his brother. We talked about our families, music, heck, even our hair. He was truly a awesome person.
“What if I mess up? What if I don’t sing at the right time?” Sami cried.
We were waiting for our turn to go onto preform. We were all totally nervous. But we did look great! I was wearing black leather pants, a short white tank top that said “cutie” on the front in silver letters, and black 4” heel boots. My blond curls were up in a high pony tail on the top of my head. Mary had red flares, and a yellow tube top under her bright green trench coat and her sneakers were turquoise. She looked really cool. Her brown hair was up in a bunch of butterfly clips. Justine had on a white skirt and a orange tank top, and bright orange sneakers. Sami looked basically how she normally does- black flares, and a tank top, which today was white, and today she had a blue fitted jean jacket over it. We all looked great.
Anyways,
“And now, ladies and gentlemen, here is our last act, please welcome the 4 girls who make up the group “Heaven”. Here is Sami, Tannar, Justine, and Mary!! HEAVEN!!!”
We ran out on stage to our instruments and Sami started the count to “Illusions”. The first people I noticed were Bob, Clint, Dave, and Scott, who were in the back leaning against a wall.
Before we knew it, they were announcing the winners.
“Second runners up are . . . “ All 4 of us were holding hands waiting in antisipation for the name to be called, “The Thompson Twins!” They were 2 little boys who sang a Backstreet Boys song. They were cute. The announcer continuted.
“And the winners are . . . HEAVEN!!” We won!! It was awesome, we all started jumping around the stage and hugging each other. Bob and Clint we screaming too. It was cool.
When everything was over, I ran right over to Bob and gave him a huge hug.
“You guys were great!!” He exclaimed.
“Yeah, you guys totally rocked.” Scott came up behind us.
“We have sort of have a surprise for you. But you can’t be mad at us when we tell you.” Dave spoke.
“What is it Dave?” Sami asked. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Sami and Dave were now a couple.
“Well, we brought a friend with us.” Clint said.
“Ok. Why would we be mad?” Mary asked.
“Well, he works for a record company. And we told him about you and he came to check you out.” Scott explained.
“And??” I persisted.
“And . . . “ Bob mocked me, “He wants to met with you guys and discuss what he heard today.”
“Oh lordy.” Mary exclaimed.
(**Author’s Note**- Now the story will be told in different P.O.V.’s So watch out for the name of the person, so ya’ll won’t be confused**)
**Mary**
I couldn’t believe what I had just heard. A record producer wanted to meet with us!!!
“When?” I asked the guys.
“Well, he is on the phone right now, but . . . oh wait there he comes. So right now I guess.” Clint replied.
“Oh my gosh, Bob. What do we do?” Tannar panicked. She always did when it cam to our music.
“Just relax, and be yourselves.” He hugged her. They were cute together.
“Hi. I am Josh Copeland. I see the guys told you about me wanting to discuss what I heard today. Can we go somewheres to sit?” He asked us.
“Sure, follow me.” I replied calmly.
“Ok.” So Josh, Bob, Dave,Scott, Clint, and the rest of my friends followed me, back into the dressing rooms. “Would you like anything to drink?” I offered.
“Water will be fine, thank you.” He answered with a smile.
So, Sami went to get him a bottle of water.
“Ok. Let’s get down to business. I like what I heard. You all have amazing talent and you have a huge shot at a record deal. What do you say?”
Sami, Tannar and I just stared at him, but Justine (being the brave one she is) replied for all of us, when she said “YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!” We all laughed. “I mean, that will be great, thank you.” She blushed.
“What do we have to do?” Sami asked.
“Well, first of all I want you to record a demo. Then we can send it to a friend of mine who is starting a record lable, and is looking for a group. And we have to get you a manager.” Josh spoke.
“We have a demo and a manager. We recorded the demo 2 weeks ago at the studio down on Westhaven Avenue (**AN: I have no idea if there is a Westhaven Ave. But if there is, spiffy**). It has 3 songs on it. Illusions, which we sang today, and two others that we wrote.” Tannar said calmly.
“Ok. Do you have the demo here today?” He asked.
“Yeah. It’s in my guitar case.” She answered.
“Can you get it for me and I can send it to Mr.Fuller today?” He questioned.
“Yeah, I’ll go get it.” Tannar got up to go get the tape, and Bob got up after her.
“When do you think we’ll get a reponce?” I asked, after Tannar had left.
“If I send it tonight, probably in about 2 weeks. Then, if he likes what he hears, you’ll have to go down to LA to meet with him. Who is your manager?” Josh told us.
“My mom, Suzanne.” I answered.
“Alright. Well, I’ll have to meet with her, and the rest of your parents to discuss things with them and make sure everything is cool with them.”
Just then Tannar came back with Bob, and handed him the tape.
“Ok. Well, I will mail this today, as soon as I listen to it, and I’ll call as soon as I hear something.” Josh shook all of our hands and left.
After Josh had left we all loaded our stuff into the guys’ vans. Our parents had left right after the show because we were going to the guys’ house to watch a movie.
“Oh my God. I can’t believe this is happening!! Thank you so much!!!” I exclaimed, when we got into the van. Dave put his arm around my shoulder and smiled at me.
“You guys are awesome so I had to do it.” Dave answered.
“This was your idea?” I asked.
“Well…..yeah.” He laughed.
“Way to be blunt,D.” Scott yelled from the front seat.
We pulled into the driveway and we all hopped out.
"I can't believe you did that!" I said. I could barely hold back the excitement. "That is so awesome!"
"It really wasn't anything." Dave said. He never took his eyes off Sami which I thought was so cute! They make such a cute couple if you ask me.
"It's really sweet." Sami said giving him a fairly shy smile.
I looked at Scott who gave me this amazing smile. I don't know how anyone could NOT love him! He's so cute!
