...but he's learned to have a lot of fun with it!
When you're a 12-year-old rock star, like moves at the speed
of sound. With fans screaming, cameras flashing and phones ringing off
the hook, Zac Hanson has learned that the easiest way to deal
with fame, is to just have fun with it, and that he does. Whether it's
resorting to his trademark zany antics to get the crowd fired up or his
brothers laughing. Zac has a bag of tricks that seems
bottomless. "Do we ever misbehave?" Zac asks himself.
"No way!" That might be a bit of a white lie considering that little
Zac once got in trouble for Rollerblading through the halls of a
four-star hotel in London, Englnd.
Zac plays an important part in the groups as its court
jester. Any time Isaac and Taylor get homesick on the
road, Zac cracks them up with his Jim Carrey-like
physical comedy routine or his sill Martian noises. Despite all of his
goofing around, Zac is very serious about his music. He
practices the drums and singing up to fours hours a day, and
contributes just as much as his olders bros to rehearsals, recording and
song-writing.
He may be talented and famous, but one thing he's not is conceited.
"I'm not that great a drummer," Zac says, "but
everyone says I can play, so I'll take their word for it."
Zac's been given favorable reviews as a percussionist by even
some of the harshest critics in the music business. A few rock writers
have even gone so far as to compare the little drummer boy to Alex
Van Halen "That's definitely an overstatement," Zac
says, "but you love it when someone says you're really good."
Not only does Zac sing, write songs, and play drums, he also
brings his mini-maraca and megaphone on stage. Additionally, he has
taken piano lessons, though he admits he chose the drums over the more
delicate instrument. "I like to bang on things!" Zac
proclaims. Perhaps he'll take up additional instruments in the ears to
come. "There's a lot to strive for and many more instrusments to
learn," Zac tells. "You want to learn anything you can
learn." With time on his side, the sky's the limit for Zac
Hanson, the youngest drummer in rock and roll.
