Interesting Read … Recommended … 4 stars

The Review Who’s Sitting on your Nest Egg? is presented in two sections. The first addresses reasons for needing financial planning and steps to take for locating a financial advisor. Author Davis states that it has become clear over the past few years that few can rely upon a company pension alone to insure a comfortable retirement. Writer Davis is a firm believer that Financial Planning is a necessity but she points out financial planning is not an activity for amateurs. She deals with where and how to begin the planning, offers information regarding the seminar approach and discusses some of the pitfalls Seniors may face at the hands of Senior Specialists.

Writer Davis suggests a number of key questions that must be asked by those wanting to plan for their future. The questions need to be asked before choosing a planner. She addresses how much nest egg will be needed to better allow retirees a comfortable, worry free retirement. And she discusses health care and the need for planning for increasing health care due to age related conditions.

Social Security pitfalls are noted including the warning that social security, if it is the only hope potential retirees have, may lead to a bleak retirement should the program continue to fall into disrepair. Social Security coupled with other retirement options are discussed by the writer. Tax Traps, Pensions, and some joint ownership problems serve as guidance for those who are setting out to prepare for their retirement.

In part two Writer Davis presents guidance for finding the right planner for the reader, this is not a one size fits all situation, she includes tips for understanding the credentials a potential planner may present, internet tools and the evaluation process to be used for deciding if the planner is the right one for the particular retirement planning individual.

The ten tests regarding retirement planning offered by Davis will serve to guide the hopeful retiree in their search. Davis lists the need for careful perusal of tax returns, estate planning and account tilling, beneficiary designation, along with what fees and commissions the hopeful retiree may face from the planner.

Writer Davis has crafted an easily read book filled with excellent information, recommendation and advice for those who are looking ahead to the future when they are no longer earning a paycheck Who’s Sitting on your Nest Egg? is an easily read work presented in plain English and not filled with a lot of verbiage or recommendations that confuse or confuse the average individual who is hoping for financial independence for the length of their lifetime. The work is laid out in a nice format lending itself to a quick reading cover to cover in one sitting and then returning often for in-depth perusal of specific areas as need presents itself.

Chapter titles set the tone for each chapter. The writer has included enough sub titles per chapter, and included in the Table of Contents to allow the reader to quickly find exactly the portion of the text to suit each question, or need regarding financial planning.

For this review I was sent a hard bound copy by a publicist. Informative read, happy to recommend.
