„Angelina Ballerina - The Silver Locket“ is the film version of Katharine Holabird’s - The Silver Locket. As Little People often do; Angelina has –borrowed- her mother’s beautiful necklace, and to her horror she seems to have lost it.

In narrative of The Silver Locket, Angelina –borrows- her mother's special necklace to wear to a party at Miss Lily's ballet school. And, of course as children will, she does mislay it. Coming home without the locket is bad enough, but, naturally that evening her mother wants to wear her locket for her special anniversary dinner.

When Angelina's mother asks her daughter to bring her jewelry box so that she can take the locket out for wearing to that special anniversary do, Angelina knows she has to do something. She makes up an excuse. And, again child like she decides that if she can but get another locket she can just put that in the box and Mom will never know.

Of course, she cannot locate a locket to replace the one she has lost. Angelina decides she must return home and face the music, she will tell her mother the truth that the locket is lost, and that it is she Angelina who did the losing.

What a surprise! Upon returning home Angelina is surprised to find her mother is already wearing her locket. It was in her baby sister’s purse. And, Angelina decides that no harm has been done, and she does not need to tell her mother the truth.

Angelina is a popular figure for Osage County First grade ballet students, we have a few. The other children listen to the stories politely, however the Angelina stories are chosen most often by the little ballet students.

Angelina, a young mouse who takes ballet lessons and lives pretty much like most kids, appears in her own animated show on PBS.

The DVD specs indicate 130 of viewing time, 48 minutes are devoted to the feature episode - Angelina Ballerina: The Silver Locket- which relates the story of how Angelina took her mother’s locket without permission, misplaced it and her frantic search for the locket. Three additional episodes are also included on the DVD: Show and Tell, The Proposal, and Heads and Tails.
