June 1, 2001 I am extremely honored that Mr. Paul Goodyear, (Survivor), has agreed to assist me with this website!
Thank you PAUL!
It is both of our intentions to bring as much information about the
USS OKLAHOMA
to whoever would like to read about this
"Grand Ole Ship"and her CREW

Paul writes ....
I DID NOT CHECK NAME BY NAME BUT THERE WERE 429 LOST ON THE OKLAHOMA. YOU
SEEM TO HAVE LEFT OUT MOST OF THE MARINES. I AM A SURVIVOR OF THE OKIE. AND
SPENT MANY HOURS RESEARCHING THE CASUALTIES AND SEARCHING FOR RELATIVES OF
THESE MEN. I DID NOT COUNT YOUR LIST.
Paul writes ....... "I HAVE FOUR "OFFICIAL" US GOVERNMENT CASUALTY LISTS FOR THE USS OKLAHOMA. ALL OF THEM INACCURATE. ONE HAS A MAN WHO WAS KILLED AT PEARL HARBOR ---- IN A SHIP YARD ACCIDENT ON NOV 3 1943. HARDLY A PEARL HARBOR CASUALLTYANOTHER HAS THE NAME OF MAN WHO IS STILL ALIVE AND PLAYING GOLF. I GUESS THE GOVERMENT BELIEVES IN REINCARNATION?
I HAVE WORKED FOR YEARS CORRECTING THE CASUALTY LIST AND LOCATING RELTIVES OF THOSE MEN. I CAN NOT GUARANTEE 100% THE ACCURACY OF THIS LIST, BUT WE FEEL THAT IT IS AS ACCURATE AS CAN BE ESTABLISHED AT THIS LATE DATE. I KNOW THERE ARE MORE RELATIVES OF THESE LOST SHIPMATES OUT THERE, SO I KEEP LOOKING.
I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ADDRESSES TO ADD TO THE LIST OF RELATIVES, THAT I ALREADY HAVE. I TRY TO KEEP THE OKLAHOMA FAMILY TOGETHER AND ADVISED.
ARE YOU AWARE OF THE MONUMENT TO OUR 429 CASUALTIES THAT WE PUT UP ON THE GROUNDS OF THE STATE CAPITAL IN OKLHOMA CITY ON NOV 11 1998??
IF YOU WILL GIVE ME AN ADDRESS I WILL SEE THAT YOU GET A PICTURE. MAYBE YOU CAN PUT IT ON YOUR WEBSITE???"
June 1, 2001 Paul writes ....... "I WILL PRINT OUT A LIST OF OUR CASUALTIES FROM MY WORD PROCESSOR AND TRY AND GET IT OFF TO YOU THIS WEEK.
YOU WILL NOTICE THERE ARE 16 STARS AFTER NAMES. THIS INDICATES THAT DESTROYER ESCORTS WERE NAMED AFTER THESE MEN. ALSO SEVRAL NAMES HAVE THE MEDAL THAT MAN EARNED THAT DAY.
WE ARE QUITE CERTAIN THAT THE 429 IS CORRECT. BUT THERE IS NO WAY IT CAN BE GUARANTEED. WE DID EXTENSIVE RESEARCH TO ARRIVE AT THESE NAMES. EVEN ON THE LIST OF OUR CASUALTIES AT THE PEARL HARBOR VISITORS CENTER, THERE ARE IN EXCESS OF 50 DISCRPANCIES ON THE USS OKLAHOMA ALONE.
WE TRIED FOR 100% ACCURACY, BUT TIME (55 YEARS) WAS AN ALMOST UNSURMOUNTABLE BARRIER. I WOULD NOT DOUBT THAT EVEN NOW WE ARE NOT 100% ACCURATE. BUT THEN I DONT KNOW OF ANYONE WHO CAN FACTUALLY REBUT THESE FIGURES. YES, , IT IS OPEN TO CORRECTION.
I WANT AS MUCH PUBLICITY FOR THE USS OKLAOMA AND PEARL HARBOR AS POSSIBLE. SO I WILL TRY AND WORK WITH YOU IN ANY WAY I CAN."

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. I DID NOT HAVE DELS ADDRESS, DIDNT EVEN KNOW HE WAS ALIVE. I PHONED HIM. AND HE VERY DEFINITELY IS A SURVIVOR AND HIS NAME AND CITY SHOULD BE ADDED.
HE WAS CUT OUT OF THE HULL ON MONDAY AFTERNOON WITH FOUR OTHER MEN
WITH YOUR HELP AND THE PUSH OF THE MOVIE "PEARL HARBOR" I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE FIVE MEN, AND ADD THEM TO THE ROSTER.
IT IS A PLEASURE ADDING NAMES, SINCE IT SEEEEMS THAT ALL I DO IS DELETE THEM.
YOUR WEBSITE HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN THIS.AGAIN THANKS.\\PAUL:
