JOHN HARRY SCHOONOVER

USS Oklahoma

Photo of my uncle John Harry Schoonover.
He went down on the USS OKLAHOMA during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7 th. 1941.

John was a Pharmacists Mate 1st. Class, just promoted to Chief Petty Officer, prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor.

John had been in the Navy 21 years and was up for retirement soon.

My daughter, Holly Dardine, and I have been doing research on John and looking for any information available, who might have been there and known John. We were to the USS OKLAHOMA reunion in April of 2002, and met with Paul Goodyear, Dick Schlink, and others who were very helpful in explaining all.
The USS OKLAHOMA reunion is a wonderful experience, and we would like to go another time.
