Lavender Around the House

Queen Elizabeth insisted that her gardeners have fresh lavender flowers  available every day of the year, which wasn't easy considering England's climate.

The Victorians used lavender in gardens for low hedges. Today many people enjoy lavender in bloom as "border edging".

Lavender, an excellent companion plant for almost anything from roses to cabbage, is one of the aromatic herbs that deer avoid, making it a great choice in your Hosta or daylily beds.

Since ancient times, the Roman's used lavender oils for scenting the air, and for storing with clothes and linens.  It's fresh scent for drawers and closets is still as popular today.

Victorians washed floors and linens with lavender water and used Lavender Wax (furniture polish). It is still popular today in furniture oil, room freshener, candles and as a lovely addition to fresh bouquets.
