During World War I, lavender,
with it's proven anti-bacterial qualities and strong antiseptic and analgesic
properties was used to help to
fight infection and hasten the healing process.
Lavender:

in a mixture with pine, thyme, mint, rosemary,
clove, and cinnamon oils helps with "staph infections"
(Staphyloccus bacteria).
- with anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal uses include first aid remedies for minor cuts, bites,
burns, and sunburn, skin wounds, scars, to help stop
the stinging- reduce the swelling and itching
associated with insect bites.

eczema and to help heal irritated skin is also a prophylactic agent and
immuno-stimulant, lavender is useful as a preventative agent protecting against colds, flu,
etc
- Soothing Remedy/Pain Relief: an analgesic, muscle
de-contractant and anti-spasmodic agent can be used in conditions that
involve spasms or pain- Rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism, arthritis, soothes muscle aches and pains, low back pain,
cramps, PMS, toothaches, earache, period pains,
headaches , indigestion and
other stomach complaints, flatulence, Roehmheld syndrome,
meteorism.

Microbial activity on gums, airborne
molds can be treated with constituents of the oils.
- Ancient Greeks used lavender to fight insanity. Lavender's soothing
"tonic" qualities has a regulating effect on the nervous system with its balancing and harmonizing nature. Being an extreme
adaptogen, it can have a restorative effect in cases of listlessness or weakness,
to
increase mental capacity and diminish fatigue and depression
along with other conditions of the nervous system but conversely has a calming effect on hyperactivity,
anxiety,
nervousness, agitated behavior acting as a sedative for mood disturbances.
Harvard Medical
school reports found it helps relieve anxiety.

- Helps alleviate motion
sickness (travel nausea) and fights fatigue from jet-lag with three to four drops of Lavender oil
massaged onto the ankles. Inhaling lavender oil is as effective as some commonly prescribed sleep
medications. A few drops of lavender oil on
your pillow and rub a drop on each temple.
Within 5 minutes after application, lavender is in
the bloodstream.

- Skin bruising-
reduces inflammation helping bruises to heal in less time by lightly rubbing a
drop or two on the injured area. Massage a drop or two lavender oil into the affected area.
- In cancer
chemo-prevention and therapy, research has focused on cancers of the
breast, pancreas and intestines. Perillyl alcohol, found in
lavender in addition to cherries, mint and celery seeds, has been shown to exert anticancer
effects. In mice these compounds reduced the size of
breast cancer tumors. In some hospitals and clinics in
the UK cancer patients, receive lavender aroma-theraphy.
