His acting experience began in theatre, one of his first film roles was in 'the Manhood of Edward Robinson', but he has since featured in hits such as 'Shakespeare in Love', 'The Next Best Thing, and 'My Best Friends Wedding.'  Possibly the height of his career however was playing the role of The Claw, in the movie version of 'Inspector Gadget'.

Rupert is also a published writer, his novels include 'Hello Darling, Are You Working' and 'The Hairdressers of Saint Tropez', and he also released two albums in the 80', which feature him singing and playing keyboards.

Rupert has ambitions to play a gay James Bond, and he also has a Labrador called Moise.

Born as Maurice James Cole,  he first came to attention, as Kenny Everett, when he joined Radio London in 1964.  After other radio shows he eventually got his own TV show and created famous characters such as Sid Snot, Mr Angry of Mayfair, Marcel Wave (a French hairdresser), Verity Treacle and Cupid Stunt, who made famous the catchphrase "all in the best pahssible taste!". 

He also created the Captain Kremmen series - a cross between Dan Dare and the Goons. Everett as the skinny hero did battle with the Enemies of the Universe (the Krells, a species of man-eating blancmange).   He also released a record:
The Worlds Worst Record Show in 1978, on puke coloured vinyl.
