The below pictures are taken during the journey from the Lake Placid station to Saramac rail depot. The route winds through the Adirondack national forest. |
The diesel powered EMD built GP locomotive # 2064 belonging to the Adirondack railroad was awaiting its duty to pull the 4 car load to the Saramac rail union depot located at a distance of around 28 miles. The railroad utilizes the services of two locos to serve its passengers. The other one is a red colored one # 4243 resting on the side lines and is also a GP class diesel driven one. The two small pictures shows the loco from the long-hood and the short-hood end. |
As the train coils out of the Lake Placid station the scenery that greets the eye comprises of lush green landscape with occasional marshes and tall mountains in the back ground. The left side picture over looks the Lake placid station in the far background. The right side one is a typical forest landscape that makes up the Adirondack forests. |
The train continued its journey to the Saramac rail depot. The left hand side picture catches one such moment when the loco eases into a smooth curve under an over head bridge as it approaches its destination. The right side picture shows the marshy landscape onroute to the saramac rail depot |
