The below pictures are taken at Saramac Union rail depot station and portrays the loco shunting process.
The train stands still at the saramac station. The locomotive is uncoupled from the front of the train and would be coupled to the far end of it to haul it back to Lake Placid station. A father and son enjoy the open view from the front side of the rake even as the rest of the family look at them from the station.

The loco that hauled our train to the saramac rail depot travelled up further and reversed its direction to reverse back, not before it changed tracks to transfer onto the adjoining line. You can see the loco with all of its front lights fully operational awaiting to return.
Another closer view of the Adirondack FP diesel powered loco waiting on the adjoining track at Saramac Union Rail depot station.
