The below pictures are taken during the journey from the Saramac Union rail depot to Lake Placid station. The route winds through the Adirondack national forest. |
The diesel powered FP locomotive # 2640 belonging to the Adirondack railroad blasts thick white smoke and accelerates out of the Saramac station. The sheer blaring of the loco horn warns the passer-bys, of its approach to the level crossing seen in the far background. |
The loco continued to increase its throttle as can be seen from the white smoke, as it wound its way through the adirondack forest negotiating the numerous twists and turns. |
The train approached Lake Placid station and immediately one could view the massive adirondack mountians in the background. The lake seen the picture added to the beauty of the scenery. The train snakes into the station at turtle speed. |
