The below pictures are taken during the backwaters tour. The tour started from the north jetty in Kumarokam at approx. 1330 hrs in a kettuvallam (houseboat), proceeded almost 40 kms into the waters and ended at the same starting location the next day at 1000 hrs. |

The Kettuvallam (houseboat): "Great India Tours" that we travelled in is seen moored along the banks of a small vilage called Ambalapuzzha. This was the overnight halt. Our carrier would return to the boat jetty the next morning after breakfast. |
The start of the backwaters travel provided us with some sensational scenery of the lush greenery comprising of palm fringed narrow canals with deep blue waters lined with paddy field on either sides. | The canal continued bringing more spectacular sights |
Small islands abound the backwaters |
As we proceeded deeper into the maze of canals the still water reflecting the residents of its banks gave sheer joy to the viewer. |
