Tekkadi is the west end of Kerala and is famous for its wild life preserve : Periyar. This mighty scantury shares its boundaries with the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu. The below pictures is an effort to present the viewer with the varieties offered by this region. |
The above picture is a panaromic view of the Periyar national forest. The hills visible in this picture all belong to this scantury. The river visible on the left hand corner is the Periyar river that runs throught this scantuary and is the primary water source for the sheltered wild life. |
The boat tour through the Periyar river is a nice opportnity to view some of the wildlife that exists in this national forest. We saw a group of "Neelgai" playing in the waters on the bank of the river. The picture captures this moment. | Neelgai (large deer resembling the size of a small cow). |
Wild boars |
Further downstream we came across a pair of wild boars loitering on the bank in the shade of the trees. A deer is also present at the same location. look closely and you will clearly see the wild boars (side view). The view of the deer is from its behind ! |
