White v/s Black |
This particular scene made one wonder if the birds were trying to show off their population by bringing in more. The pure white 'Herons' had a stiff competition from the jet black 'Coromanders'. That particular rock seemed to be a prime location for such meets. |
The 'Coromanders' nest on such odd locations as can be seen in this picture. The tree was a lone one in the middle of the river and did not have any protection. One would wonder why would a bird ever nest in such an open position. However this seems to be a regular habit of these birds. The picture shows two such nests with the female bird guarding her eggs. | Coromander nests |
Giant Indian Heron |
This 'giant Indian Heron' perched itself on the topmost part of the tree and was surveying the area. It seemed that after a while the heron was trying fell asleep since it drooped its head on one side and lay still and motionless for a long time. |
