Taken out the patio door facing southeast.
Taken out our bathroom window facing west. Rain is just pelting this side of the house and the wind is blowing the hardest I have ever witnessed. If you look carefully you can see some branches on the ground from the big tree.
This is a row of trees that lined the lane that blew over like toothpicks. It was the only shade that the cows had during the hot days. As you can see they are huddled in the corner. There are 12 babies they are protecting.
The storm lasted all of about 20 minutes. It seemed like forever. I have never been afraid in a storm before, but this one really let us know what Mother Nature is capable of, and she pushed her wrath of furry down upon us.
The following photos are of the lane of trees that blew over. My hubby and all the neighbors and even their kids' kids were out with chain saws cleaning up. Everyone pitched in to help. Well, not me, I was taking pictures! Teehee......
So you have some idea, the above photo is taken in February. The trees are baren. But this is the row that fell down.
Here, it is early spring.
This was taken a week prior to the storm.
Below are photos of my yard after the storm.
Below is a photo of the tree BEFORE Mother Natures trim job.
Below are photos of the neighbors across the lane. Their walnut tree went down. It happened to of blown away from their house, so the only loss was the tree and its nuts.
Below is a tree next to the neighbors pasture. It did not get hit by lightening although it does look that way. The wind just ripped it to shreds.
Back in our yard. Trying to lasso a loose and broken branch so that it does not fall on anyone. Three men....need I say more. They did get the job done. One Indian and two supervisors! GOOD WORK FELLA'S!
The clean up effort. Thank goodness for all the kids. Their help was greatly appreciated!
We worked till 9:30 that night getting things cleaned up. The power went out about 4:15PM and did not come on until the following day at 8AM. We were so tired we just fell into bed. Since there wasn't any power though, we both kept waking up, checking to see if the clocks were flashing to signal that the power was back on. About once every 20 years we have a storm like this come through. There could of been more damage. The path the wind took was a very narrow path, and we were on the edge of it. The rain took a much larger path. Trees that you would of thought would of come down, didn't and visa versa. No semi's were blown over. No casualties. It hit right as people were getting off from work too. I love Mother Nature. Once in a while though, she can really put us all in our place.
