Introducing:
T A U M E E M A H R E E
This little gal has come into our lives.
She is Border Collie and Golden Retriever mix, "Coltreiver" is her breed.
You can read about them at
www.coltriever.org
We came upon her quite by accident.
I never read the nickel want ad's, but this particular day I did.
There was only one ad in there about puppies. We went and looked at her.
I was not to terribly impressed,
and she did not steal my heart immediately like Sydney did, but she sure was cute.
Her Mom is Border Collie, named Daisy.
She looked kind of funny as she had just gotten shaved, because her hair was all matted.
Her name was Daisy.
Her dad is a Golden Retriever, named Cruiser.
They were never meant to have puppies it all happened by accident.
Daisy had 4 puppies. 2 blacks and 2 goldens.
When we went to look there was only one left.
The next day, Sunday I could barely wait to call and let them know that we wanted the puppy.
For the first night since Sydney left, I went to sleep and was not haunted by nightmares.
I went to sleep thinking of this puppy. So you can say, she did get into my heart just a wee bit.
Sunday we went and picked her up.
I felt so bad as I knew that she would not see her mom and dad anymore,
but She did not know that, but I was going to love her with all my heart!
All day we tossed around names. We finally settled on Tomi.
She is such a character and brings a lot of joy into our life.
She has a lot of characteristics that Sydney had.
After living with her a while, she is so unique that I have changed the spelling of her name.
It is now, Taumee and she has a middle name too: Mahrhee. (Pronounced Marie).
This is just after a bath.
Her first day with us. Taumee has adjusted well, more so than me actually.
I knew puppies were a lot of work, but my goodness!
I constantly have to watch her 24/7, sleeping with one eye open.
Her first few nights with us, she spent in a kennel, as I did not want her getting into things.
I did not know what I needed to do to puppy proof my house.
Taumee showed me though!
So now EVERYTHING is picked up where she can not get to it.
All the throw rugs picked up and put away till I can not find anymore surprises on the floor.
She is very good, and does have the idea that when we go outside, and I look at her and say, "Go Pee!"
I am not going to wait around if she does not do it. She does not like to be left alone.
She has also learned very quickly the word: "No!".
I am sure she thinks her name is "NO, Taumee!"
She loves her teether, and rope doll. Her tug of war, is ever so gentle.
Right now, she does not have a clue as to what we do at dinner time.
I want to keep it that way, so she only get doggie cookies. She is happy with them.
